Absolutely he has never had to shoot before this year. His game is more suited for the NBA. There was numerous times where he drives and dishes to and open shooter who misses (most wing players in the NBA can make an open shot at a very high percentage) or he finds another cutting player who can't handle the pass (they would be slam dunk highlight finishes in the NBA). Defensively he does need to learn to take less chances and slapping at the ball. Even if you just hit ball it looks bad to the officials.

Compared to NBA stars and his potential? No
Physically compared to 90% of the NBA? Yes. He's already 6'10 ~250 I believe. He'll probably be at 260 going into his season.
And I agree with what Charles said to an extent, but I think he has better improvement opportunity in the NBA with private coaches

I'll take the sure $120 million. Not like it disqualifies him later on, but he does get a chance at a max contract sooner....

he's right, Ben is raw meat to a pack of hungry dogs in the NBA, but if they want him as one of the top 5 picks who can blame him for leaving. I certainly don't.

How was anthony davis ready his first year if Ben Simmons isnt?
Obviously Davis is a different type of player, but as far as being physically ready, Ben is more ready than any other freshman that is about to join him in the draft. And more physically ready than Davis was his first year.

Just stop. First off, he's likely to regress in the college game if he stays. He needs to go to the NBA where real coaches and trainers can develop him quicker. Second, the value of NBA players is probably the highest average of the 3 major sports. Barring catastrophic injury or illness, financial security is a given so long as he doesn't go all Antoine Walker. Third, Ben is the best player in the country. It's a no-brainer he should go to the NBA.

The NBA has long been infamous for drafting on projections down the road. Current level of skill has nothing to do with it; if you can find the proper body type with the required and shown coordination, SOMEBODY will pay big money; if you don't, the next team up will. And if he pans out, then you look bad.
It's entirely possible that Simmons will develop into the next Kevin Durant (or better), and just as possible that he will be the next Tyrus Thomas (or worse), ride the bench with his millions, and drift away eventually. If he's the Durant option, then you have a position filled on your roster that won't need an upgrade for a decade or so, if you decide to pay him what he demands. If he's the other guy, well, you always have the next draft.
Barkley is right, in that Simmons isn't going to come in and dominate the league right now... but the sad fact is that the NBA hasn't been about drafting polished and complete players for quite a long time. You can always find some guy in his mid-upper 20's who can shoot as well as Buddy Hield can.

He'd get better development being in the NBA, not coming back to college.
The earlier he gets into the NBA, the potentially longer NBA career he can have and more chances at contracts.
