Nah, I'm not convinced yet that we are beating Bama and Ole Piss

You're crazy. This team currently loses to Ole Miss and bama.

I think this team will improve as the season progresses but still not enough to get to the playoffs. Defense and running game aren't there.

They will have to show me a lot more in the coming weeks for me to start thinking playoffs. Ask me after the Ole Miss game.

We haven’t played a single quarter of complete, much less great football on either side of the ball. No clue what OP is seeing through those rose colored glasses.

and other tough games at A&M, at Arky (the week after Ole Miss), and Oklahoma.

No playoffs this year - not even close unfortunately.

Lsu will need more Durham-types to emerge on defense if they are to make the 12-team playoff.

i feel like if it all comes together there is a playoff team there

we make so many dumb mistakes that if we just cut those out who know where we end up.

the question is can we cut them all out?

I hope we haven’t played anywhere near our best game yet.

For how much the state is paying Kelly dumb mistakes are not to be tolerated or accepted. With what was invested he should be in the top 5 every year.

If salary was all that mattered we shouldn’t ever finish higher than 6-7th.

man, ole miss hasn't played anyone yet. we'd be 3-0 if we'd have played south alabama first instead of USC. we would probably beat USC if we played them now.

It does look to me like we will lose 2 more but we may be good enough by the time the big games get here. the offense may really get good and the defense problems look fixable. Zy Alexander is back, they are using Perkins better, and Toviano will get out of the dog house soon, I hope.

too early to tell either way. If we pound UCLA like I expect the LSU fan base will be giddy. then we destroy S. Alabama and we found out what we've got vs Ole Miss. If J.D. would've been the qb he was by the end of the season when we played ole miss we'd have won. we'd have beaten alabama if the refs hadn't negated that one big play in the second half. imo

so....

It's always funny in the T Rant. The closer to Saturday we get the more confidence we have in the team and chances in the playoffs.
Then Sunday/Monday comes and we are saying this is an 8-4 team at best, Kelly sux, this team doesn't have talent, OC is terrible, DC is a dumbarse for not knowing how to use Perkins.

Its so much fun.

Yep, so true! Hey, I hope I am wrong but have seen nothing to suggest this is a playoff worthy team. A playoff team usually has a few dominant wins, and meanwhile we struggled against Nicholls. People are expecting us to crush UCLA, but isn't that what was expected against Nicholls as well? If we fall behind UCLA on Saturday, I can already see the Rant calling for BK's head! We need a big win, but I just feel like this team doesn't have the horses to get the job done this year. I know fans don't want to hear it, but we need another year...

I think it's definitely still on the table...

Kelly's past 2 teams both improved significantly from the opener to midseason. No reason to think it won't here, in fact there's reasons to think it WILL improve:
1) New defensive scheme, players are going to settle in more.
2) Run game entered the season as a work in progress that Kelly's stated he needs to get better. So that means we're going to focus on that.
3) Passing game is all new in personnel other than Lacy and Taylor, I think that actually gets even better. Nuss will get more comfortable, Savion Jones and CJ Daniels will step up more, Anderson looks like he's emerging.
Offensively, we're ahead of 2022, IMO. Nuss right now is better than '22 Jayden. I think the defense will be similar to, maybe better than '22.

As for the expected losses, Ole Miss remains a mystery. This could be a great team, or another team that starts 6-0 and ends up 7-6. I'm leaning towards them being overhyped and ready for a letdown this year, and things collapsing.
A&M is beatable, if it were home we wouldn't even list it as a danger game.
Alabama is, well, Alabama, and we likely lose that. But that doesn't doom the season anymore.
Oklahoma, I think we beat at home to close the season- especially if we're playing for something.

You are crazy then . Unless we miraculously improve in several facets and our talent level goes up tremendously.
