I gotta give credit to the couple being straightforward with the issue and not devolving into stereotypical stuff...
...and $50k or so when they decided they need to apply I dont have a problem with.... so they got back to full work and making $100k now and still getting it... kinda don;t have a problem with that either as long as it's like an annual thing they need to renew and they are just riding out the remainder of their current year...
So I dont freak out over it, unless it continues on year over year. That's ultimately been the problem with these social programs... get on them, they continue to increase forever even if your personal situation improved to where you dont need it any longer.

Username fits. 100k in Louisiana is more than enough to not need EBT.

Yes, this, unfortunately. It may be more prevalent in certain communities, but I knew a guy (white/hispanic) from high school that never married the mother of his children, and he would get food assistance and WIC, or I should say she would. He was a manager at Red Lobster. If system can be gamed, it will be gamed.

And the LA AG is prosecuting the frick out of this fraud, currently

Tons of fraud. The ways are endless and there is no shame.

Not watching that, but did he name names and report them?

For qualifying for freaking food stamps?

Acting like $100k is food stamp worthy while they blow money eating out is also certainly a choice.

Give him a break. He interned for Mary Landrieu.

Yeah, I’m less offended by these guys than by Warren Buffett, who pays less than 15% on his millions in income while I pays 38% of my comparatively paltry income.

They learn to game the system. Hide income. File single. Fake disabilities. Once they get the service there’s very little oversight so it’s easy to keep it.

Pretty ignorant to go out and publicly admit to fraud. Liz Murrill is on a crusade against folks that are doing this type of stuff.

My blood boils thinking about republican politicians not running on cleaning up every ounce of fraud in this country.

It shouldn't matter what party you're associated with. It's wrong.
