They were hiding behind cars. That is suspicious and the officer has a duty to investigate, and the officers weren't there randomly, they were on a call.
Once they see a suspicious situation and then the people don't comply, they have a duty to protect themselves.
This whole thing lasted a short time and ended cordially. It wasn't a big deal until Koy decided he wanted to be famous.

How did the officers know they were unarmed? You don't know until you do a pat down. How can you access a threat from 25 feet away? They did exactly as they were trained to do end of story.
Some of you should do a ride along on a Saturday night in the second district to get a in person view.
