Is it even baseball anymore if the bullpens aren’t on the field? How are fans supposed to intimidate the opposing pitchers who are getting loose in the pen?

I remember one of, I think it was a SEC tournament game, in the 90’s where they sold so many tickets they let the fans sit on the field along the 1st and 3rd base lines. Old Alex Box.

Regular season game vs. Mississippi State in 1992. Todd Walker's freshman year. Damndest thing I ever saw.

At the Round Rock classic this is where their bullpens were. It was not bad at all.

It can still be accomplished by a liquored up Coonass guy if they build it right. Most stadiums with outfield bull pens have it built into a berm with a walkway on the backside. That would be ideal so fans could walk back there to chirp at opposing teams.

Dell Diamond is a beautiful triple a ball park. Alex Box could grab a few design ideas from it. I especially like how close the seats are to the field down the whole foul lines. I also like the berm with the bar behind it and the Homerun porch.

Maybe LSU should start over with the Box, knock it down, and rebuild it with design ques from other good stadiums. I bet however that the Pmac is next on the list way before a new Box.

It was a really nice park. I liked the rocking chairs behind the berm. I also like how you can walk around the whole park at concourse level. Yes several things could be done at the Box to freshen it up.

LSU needs to play the tournament in Frisco every year. Youll see a great AA park. Bullpens are in the seats, it works.

Skip's cheap ball park was antiquated the day it opened.

My very first thought walking into the stadium for the first time was "THIS is what everyone is saying is so great?" It was bland and "cheap" looking in 2009. They basically just built a slightly better/updated version of the same stadium they tore down because it was old and outdated. That's why the new Box quickly got passed in terms of aesthetics by several other SEC schools.

It's not a "bad" stadium by any means. It's just not particularly impressive in any way.

Heyy I like that thing.
I make my kids and friends go to the Museum and press the button listen to the crowd at least once a season. I can hear me.

There used to be a picture in some of the old media guides on the page where it listed top attendances. You may be able to find it in the media guide archives on lsusports.net

This is the only video I could find. It's not the whole ceremony but it does show the baseball opening and fireworks.

It will be weird not being able to see who is warming up. I can’t imagine them converting portions of the outfield wall into chain link sections. Gotta keep those ads up :/
