Yep most of our TD's were from 35+ yards out that year. Looked like Teddy may have slept during that part of practice last year.

59 in the Red Zone
36 outside the Red Zone

We were one of the most productive and efficient Red Zone offenses in the country.

I think a few teams in the NFL would love to have Burrow, Chase, Marshall, Jefferson, and CEH as their starters

Like only 3-4 teams that wouldn't trade their current QB1, WR 1-3, and RB1 for that considering their age and ceiling.

Sounds like he might have been throwing shade at the head coach. The whole ESPN article quotes Bridgewater complaining about the practice schedule, not having McCaffery, etc., then saying he could throw this out there and that out there but it wouldn’t do any good.

Uh, Teddy, sounds like you did just throw out all the excuses for everyone to see. Bridgewater comes off as a guy who knows he’s on his last days in the NFL.

Why didnt Steve e tear it up with joe in 2018 then?

Two reasons. One, the offense was not as developed. Bringing in Joe Brady, and being a year further into running spread, made a big difference. Two, the talent level on 2019 LSU offense was far better than 2018. JaMaar Chase wasn’t even starting in 2018. In 2019 he was the best receiver since Julio Jones. Jefferson was improved, Marshall was there in 2019, Clyde emerged, the offensive line improved because everyone returned, and most of all Joe Burrow was better after a full year of starting.

Do you think Joe Burrow could improve that much in one year? Well, two years earlier he wasn’t good enough to win the starting job at Ohio State.

A lot of things came together to make 2019 an exceptional year. The greatest receiver in LSU history, the greatest QB in LSU history, the entire line coming back, Moss coming back from injury, Jefferson emerging. Those trying to say it was due to one thing are fools.

And maybe a Sr named Burrow.

The difference was Brady. Sorry, but it's just true.

And Joe coming in to his own as a starter in the SEC. 2018 was his first starting gig at the college level so I actually think it was a combo deal.

no, Burrow had already been at Ohio State for 3 seasons when he transferred here in late spring of 2018. He was ready to launch when he got here.

It was E's 2018 offense that held him down, as well as the multiple other NFL talent on that offense.

Brady was the difference.

So he is automatically discredited in your eyes because he spoke out on the way Joe Brady conducts his practice schedule, right? ...something that could easily be called out by other players to refute his claim.

I was waiting to find a comment like this.

I don't get it though. Why would he lie about this? I believe Bridgewater is a pretty respectable guy.

I don't see the need to be defensive about what he said. Maybe I am wrong though. Has Joe Brady responded to it? Maybe it is true and he doesn't see the need to practice these things.

Would ournoffense have been better in 2019 than 2016 if nothing changes with the coaches? Sure.

Would it have been as big a jump? Absolutely not.

I actually agree with you but our fanbase being so dismissive of what brady brought is strange

I’m sure Brady has his reason for practicing his offense like he does. I would like to know this question does Peyton run his practice like Brady? Maybe what Peyton did seemed better to Bridgewater, and had him more prepared.

I won’t say that Brady wasn’t a MAJOR factor...he was. Nor will I say that E wasn’t lacking.

However, comparing teams on paper is just dumb. Burrow didn’t have a spring, learned the playbook on the fly, and clearly was better at the end of the season.

As for last year, having two freshen “lead” a totally revamped team, playing an all SEC schedule, was bound to lead to a drop off in production.

Stats are only a part of the story.

2019 was lightning in a bottle.

Arguing that Joe Burrow went from 16 to 60 TDS because of an off-season is insane.

Watching Joe you could tell he had the talent in 2018, thenoffense was just a mess.

And there is no excuse for half asking a transition to the spread.

Say what you want about E, he was not a good Red Zone play caller/play designer. He is in no way under appreciated in this respect.

Not great on 3rd downs either:

2020 34.6% (102nd Nationally)
2019 49.7% (4th Nationally)
2018 40% (57th Nationally)
LOL. I'm not claiming that E was fantastic, but those stats are nearly meaningless given different the circumstances of those seasons.

I didn’t watch the Panthers at all this season; did they run any QB draws?

Not to brag or anything but I told the Clemson fan next to me “better tell Dabo to watch the QB draw” on 3rd and goal from the 3.
