I think Kelly has done a fantastic job of evolving the football program to reflect the current realities of the business.
??? The worst LSU defense in 30 years under Matt House. Is this evolution?

Look , I support BK. But we have blown like 4 straight openers,
Blown I think is relative and we've actually lost our last 5 - the first two being O and in no world should we have lost either of those two as we were the better team, but we lost both of those worse than the score honestly.
Kelly's first I thought the teams were very comparable talent wise - they played a game the week before and I absolutely believed that made a difference....we hit our stride late and were outplaying them at the end. Can't excuse the extra point though.
Kelly's second they were more talented than us, but we outplayed them in the first half so I do have an issue with getting beaten so badly in the second half.
Last year we were more talented we should have won - all on Kelly and staff. Yes Nuss missed an open receiver on a key third down late that would have kept the drive alive run some clock and possibly gotten us the win, but you can play that game all day - it should not have come to that.

If all this:
Then it has to show up in titles or it’s not true.

You cannot blame people for thinking the HC isn't first class lol.
With the exception of Kirby Smart, no coach in the SEC has out performed Kelly in win % in the time he has been here.
His win % over his first 3 seasons is on pace with each of our last 3 national title winning coaches and only 1 coach, Les Miles, won a national title in his first 3 years here. I think we can all agree when comparing what each coach was left with, Miles started on 3rd base, and Kelly started in a car parked a mile from the field.
He's been to Atlanta, he's brought in and developed a #1 draft pick & heisman winning QB, he has another QB in position to challenge for the same, he has beaten 3 teams ranked in the top 10 despite "never winning the big games".
What to you is first class?

Way too reductive. It takes a lot of luck to win titles.

Hopefully it all comes together on the field
All of this, for all the heat he takes for his hires on his first staff and other things no one can say he hasn't learned. He is adapting and going all in to win. So if he doesn't win one, it won't be for lack of effort.

House had a top 30 defense with 30 scholarship players. The fact that our idiot fans keep blaming House is pretty funny.
Last I checked, House is still coaching in the NFL.

Can’t agree more. Michigan is now having to revolve around a state HS runner-up freshman QB. Dave Portnoy got them their boy, so there they go.

Wonder if people realize he let Austin Thomas go when he took the job. Among other people he has since hired back.
I like Kelly; he had a huge blind spot when it came to his 1st staff. Set them back at least 2 years.

Addition by subraction.....and i hope we"Bama" beats your arse...........but sometimes a TEAM needs to delete players that are not fully bought in.

his first year was his best when it comes to the goals you set at the beginning of the year and how many of them are reached.
goals were ,beat alabama and we did
win the west and we did.
win the sec and we didnt
make a bowl that we used to call a bcs bowl which we did.
make playoff which we didnt.
not bad for first year
that year has to be the floor from now on

I’m great with us getting better…but
Brian needs to win it this year, we’ll be breaking in a new, young QB after this.

e's also done a good job keeping the roster stacked with talent through recruiting and the transfer portal
this is where im not sure i agree, The talent level since kelly has not been up to where we were used to in the Saban,MIles and ed O era's. Thats not all on him obviously and he has gotten highly rated guys but the roster just hasnt been stacked with elite level athletes like you need to win a title. Not sure if thats misevaluation or development but this is the year show out or get out IMO.

I caught a ton of DVs a few months ago for saying BK knows his biological clock is ticking and the time is now. The biggest thing for "now" is having a 5th yr Sr QB with a full yr experience. He had to build a team around Nuss this year and fix the defense post haste.

Bro - chill out with these outrageous takes.
Obviously kidding here - no doubt that Kelly is a very good head coach. He made some mistakes with his first staff and his first few hires that he has now rectified.
He has accomplished what you pointed out after starting out with a complete shite show of a roster.
All that being said - it is now time to get to that next level. Anyone saying championship or bust I think is unrealistic. But it is completely realistic to expect to be in the playoffs this season and then being a top 15 type program consistently with multiple playoff appearances and even wins going forward.

I disagree. The Clemson game will be extremely tough and we should be expected to lose. It would not surprise me at all if we lost that game by double digits and still made the playoff. I think the game that will tell us how the season is going to go is the Florida game.
Yeah, some people put way too much stock in the opening game. Of the streak of losses for opening games, only one was a home game for LSU. Clemson at Clemson this season score TBD....USC road game in Vegas...FSU in Superdome where crowd was split pretty even...FSU road game in Orlando, FL....UCLA road game in Pasadena (Kelly not the coach)...Miss St in Baton Rouge (Kelly not the coach)
I agree about the Florida game being the measuring stick. LSU is at home and last year LSU at Florida dominated the game statistically but lost on the scoreboard.

Luck is involved but if you’ve got the best or near best every where luck will find you multiple times.
Look at Saban, he wasn’t any luckier than any other coach. He was better.
