Outside of a few blowhard radio talkshit hosts and an arrogant prick of a supposed to be sports column writer there weren’t that many that wanted napier. Especially over someone like Kelly.

Love to see it.
2 things play into that.

1. What coach wants to go to a school that fires their coach after just 2 seasons?

2. He had a good recruiting class lined up until 8 guys flipped.

National Championships:

Coach O = 1
B Kelly = 0

Coach O built what as being called the best college football team ever. he built it with a third string QB and recruiting, not a portal. Suck on that!!

maybe some but not most. I'm a lifelong resident of Lafayette and never considered Napier one of us nor did I want him instead of Kelly. Nor did anyone I know.

What? You must be thinking of rednecks. Do you actually know any Cajuns?

I have no idea about that but I could see it. Still not one of us any more than a person with an honorary degree is a graduate.

I'm guessing the recruiting ranking they HAD at the end of the season is what blinded the UF admins and boosters.

You actually think O was hired because he was from Louisiana? Alleva was all set to hire Herman, doofus, and Herman used LSU to force UT’s hand, leaving Alleva with no other decent option besides O because he was a shitty AD who had no backup plan.

During the LSU-UF game, the announcers talked about the state of the UF program and said when they were talking with Billy before the game, he said he and the powers that be at UF said they wanted to build from the ground up as much as possible and not lean on the portal.

UF started 1 senior this year and only had a couple of JRs. They played mostly freshman and Sophomores.

So for the Kelly fanatics, is BK going to win a championship this year or what? Miles and O won theirs in their 3rd year at the helm.

Were you a Napster? I doubt BK will win this year, he didn't inherit the quality players either O or Miles did. Nor did he have 2/3rds of a season plus another season and a third as recruiting coordinator that O did.

If he does win it, it would be the best coaching in LSU history.

Wasn't in the tank, I liked him and still think his best days are in front of him. I just don't see the piling on him by so many. It's not like he did or said anything to hurt LSU.

BK

Never really liked him, kinda like Ryan Day,. Just comes off as an arrogant prick who hasn't really done shite other than make it to the Championship game once and was beat like a rented Mule by Saban. That's with Notre Dame getting the bias they always get from the media when they have a decent team.

So we're just going to pretend O didn't start off with Danny Etling at QB and typical transfers sit a year? JB was an unimaginable find and talent, but O and his crew recruited the other players around him in 3 years.

CFB success is 90% recruiting top talent, BK is not a top flight recruiter.

new age of football
Coach as manager now is 100% right. Coach now has to know the team's annual overturning needs and make decisions about the same against (1) a de facto salary cap available from the program's NIL pool and (2) the talent available on the transfer portal. The days of begging 18yo high school seniors to sign with promises of dark money and snake oil are over.
