So many good ones, it would take so long to debate.
Chad Jones certainly one of the most exciting.
Landry the best enforcer.
Casanova the most decorated.
And on and on.

Laron Landry- the best tackling safety I have ever seen. Dude did not miss tackles at all

I met Mark Roman at a Chipotle in Murphy Tx. He saw my LSU gear and started a conversation while in line.
The dude was a straight up baller. Loved watching him play during Dinardo's best years. He was a very cool and humble guy FWIW.

Casanova and Rehage above them, but they're right there at the top.
BTW, Saban's Defense didn't "Click" until he moved Henderson (Hunt) from WR to Safety.

Yeah, and my best QB ever was Jarrett Lee. Good gravy! Maybe Chad Jones was your favorite, but best? He’s not even close to being in the top 10, and it is a thousand miles from Chad Jones to Jamal Adams. Chad Jones could be clocked with a calendar. There were pitchers on LSU’s baseball team who were faster than Jones.
Here are a few, at random, who were better:
Liffort Hobley
Jeff Dale
Jamal Adams
Greg Jackson
Grant Delpit
Tyrann Mathieu (a sometimes safety)
Ryan Clark
Craig Steltz
LaRon Landry

I was under the impression that Casanova played corner at LSU and moved to safety with the Bengals. 50 years can cloud a memory.

Too bad many never saw him play; maybe the best overall player at LSU.
Tommy is the only 3 time All American to ever play at LSU. In Tommy's day freshman couldn't play on the varsity. Tommy played corner back as well as safety, return punts and kicks as well as played RB on offense.

It's Laron Landry or Jamal Adams

Landry is going to be the right answer, and it’s b/c of the era he played
He wasn’t great in coverage, just good
But he had everything underneath, was always in position, and understood his role better than all of the other great athletes mentioned

I will say Eric Reid because of the INT against Bama

Sorry Chad. Love you, but you’re not even close to one of the Tiger’s best safety’s, let alone CFB.

Steltz was the best I’ve seen. A true QB of the defense. Landry is a close second.
