WGAF about what his parents say? This is not HS ball. This is big boy SEC ball, where you have to suck it up and handle your own business.

I still blame Orgeron for Bech's lack of development at WR. His 40 time and high school athleticism never really showed up on the field. I think it could be because he lost a step putting on weight that he didn't need. He should never have been asked/forced to bulk up and play TE.

Not scared of competition, as long as everybody starts the race at the same spot

Kind of a shite comment considering he got plenty of chances to play. But, in his defense, what is he supposed to say? "I got beat out so I'm leaving."

I also think that he is 100% making the correct decision for himself by transferring, and TCU is a great landing spot.

TCU is losing their top 3 WRs with Johnston (Draft), Barber (Senior), and Davis (Senior). Maybe that has something to do with his "starts the race in the same spot" comment. He will have to beat out current backups, incoming freshmen, and fellow transfer Jo-Jo Earl.

Had a great opportunity to make plays on the field as a punt returner, but HE messed that up.

Why does he suggest people started the race at different spots?

Probably because BK has stated, from the beginning, he wanted a different body type for a TE.
Just like him indicating he prefers a running style QB.

Is there a reason it’s broken down into top 5 WRs.

Because it's a wash after the top 5 WRs, and it's more likely to be skewed by 2nd team/blow out reps.

LSU WRs 211; TCU WRs 190.

I was just countering your point that you say "actually throws to the WRs".

You're also ignoring the fact that Duggan will not be there next year.

Weird. There was at least one game I remember him not even dressing for. I could be wrong but, I think it was the Ole Miss game. If you’re 100% all season you dress out every game. My BS detector is going off.

I would choose Bech over Lacy. Lacy cannot stay healthy.
Unlike Lacy, I don't remember Bech dropping two easy passes in a row, during his entire career.

Why are you only using WRs? When running backs catch passes they become receivers also.

Sounds like an excuse for getting passed up by better players but not realizing they are better...but fair play to him he definitely isn't leaving the cupboard bare

He only had 1 fumble that I recall, unless you're referring to the ball that hit his hands and then bounced off of his helmet. That ball was high and wide. He was barely able to reach the ball, and the DB arrived simultaneously with that ball. It was a poorly placed ball, and it would've taken a nearly miraculous catch. The only catchable ball I ever remember him mishandling was the punt. Aside from that, the young man was nearly flawless at catching the ball. Meanwhile, Boutte dropped about half a dozen catchable balls. Lacy dropped a few catchable balls. Even Nabors dropped a couple. I think Bech had the best hands, and he was good after the catch as well. He outplayed his scouting ratings.

You are correct. He was reported to have back spasm issues.

Yeah, this is spot on. Not sure why he’s saying this but you are 100% correct that he wasn’t.

I agree but this is not what he wanted. He has said from Day 1 and on that interview that his best position his WR.

But I also believe if he added weight to get to 235-240 he would have been an absolute stud at the Tight end Spot. But I wish him the best and hope he sees a lot of success at the WR spot at TCU.

According to LSU; Bech started four games, Lacy one. Bech missed a game. Lacy missed none.

I don’t buy for a second that Kelly didn’t have high hopes for Bech. Wasn’t Bech one of the players who was sent to the SEC pre-season press days?

Anyone looking at the 2021 squad would have guessed that Bech would have been lit second best receiver, after Boutte.

Bech had a great 2021. And no one would say that Mason Taylor was a big recruit coasting on high school reputation (he was a 3 star). That also doesn’t apply to Jaray Jenkins or Malik Nabors. Brian Thomas was a bigger recruit but had a solid freshman year and comparable numbers to his freshman season this year, as well.

I realize that no one says they are leaving because they had a disappointing year and that they’ve been passed up in the depth chart, but I don’t see how you can say Kelly did him wrong with playing time.

You can argue that he shouldn’t have been a punt returner maybe, but that is more on Bech’s lack of skill for the position.

I think he kills it, makes an NFL roster, and loves LSU. But he played poorly, made terrible mistakes, and didn’t step up when his number was called. Hopefully he goes on and has a great career and adjusts to being a part of a team, instead of expecting to be The Man.

Whether this is Bech making excuses or BK having preconceived notions about who will play it's not a great look to prospective recruits.

I somewhat agree with you. I think Bech should start working on his public image, public speaking, perhaps work with an image consultant, a public relations firm.

Giving interviews like this probably raises eyebrows at TCU. Whether he got a fair chance or not, he needs to act like an adult professional, and keep this to himself.

And … if CBK is a pretty fair guy, and coaches around the NCAA know that, this interview is a REAL bad look for Bech.

NCAA/NFL coaches are a very small world, they all know each other, and talk to each other.

ETA: I think this interview is a bad look for Bech. I don’t think recruits see it and think CBK and staff are suspect.

Bech needs some help with public relations.
