Baffling why SEC Network continues to use him on Saturday SEC Nation. He brings absolutely nothing substantive to the panel. Either get another player who understands the game or a former coach to provide that perspective. Finebaum brings NOTHING to the show.

Big time agreement here. LSU has/had a nationwide swagger branding and Kiffin’s overt confident, quasi arrogant style plays right into that LSU branding and the type of athlete that is attracted to LSU.
Future is bright for LSU football program right now…

No need to get snotty but looks like you are the one not paying attention to current specifics. If they play hard ball and force him out now, they owe him a $36mil buyout which they are trying to avoid. Doesn’t appear LSU has given LK a contract start date which is giving him the flexibility to negotiate his departure parameters.
Apparently not b/c if they were this would be resolved by now.
re: WHOA!!! WHY would LSU allow him to coach playoffs?

No, you’re not missing anything. No one in their right mind at LSU would allow this.
Cite me a single example of an OC or DC who coaches for two different college teams simultaneously? I’m unaware of any that have done this.

You are correct; people supportive aren’t thinking through all the implications. It’s not as simplistic as “others have recruiting duties”. I posted this in previous threads. Think it sums up why it’s stupid for LSU to allow Lane to continue coaching Ole Miss team:
If Kiffin accepts the HC position, in no way should LSU let him continue coaching Ole Miss thru the remainder of their season. One of the key aspects of the contract is what is the start date.
LSU cannot wait until Ole Miss season is over before his start date b/c worst case scenario 1) he’s absent from the December signing period, 2) delays staff hiring/recruitment while other teams are locking those guys down and 3) most importantly he misses the only transfer portal period for the entire football season. LSU cannot take that chance of not having him on staff.
Additionally, you can’t have a HC for two different teams at the same time. That’s a conflict of interest. It’s impossible for Kiffin to put each universities best interest at the forefront of all his decisions; like player transfer conversations at both LSU and Ole Miss.
Sucks for Kiffin and his players but if he wants the LSU job, LSU should mandate he accept the position full-time now and divests of his Ole Miss HC responsibilities the same day. That’s in LSUs best interest…

You have no idea who either of those schools will select as a coach nor whether either will be successful. Pump the brakes on your definitive decade prognostications.

A decade? Not sure how you come to that conclusion.

Key question for this contract is whether it’s all guaranteed like Kelly’s is/was. No shocker that if you’re pulling a top name coach you will be paying in the 10-12mil a year range. All guaranteed w/o performance-based accountability clauses is hopefully the aspect we’re not repeating.

This area seems to be the most frequently cited.
Yeah would likely be north of I-10.
Would be one of the reasons but certainly wouldn’t let that one outweigh what appears to be strong negatives for the area.

Few things better than competition celebrations with your warrior brothers.
Hmmm, golf course living; that sounds promising. Will check it out.
Haha, that sure seems to be the general consensus. It’s a shame how negative everyone’s opinions are of the area.

Thanks for that. The “cluster” as you call it is in large part what I’m looking to avoid.
Considering that area as well.
Haha, thank you for the detailed response. Work would be remote. Close proximity to support university athletics was the logic for IVO Baton Rouge.
