I said we didn’t hear about it.

We did hear about it though. He showed up to the first pitch banquet in a knee brace and it came out that he had surgery like 3 weeks before the season started.

It’s not about proving it. It’s an undeniable fact that he had knee surgery shortly before the season. Missed the majority of spring practices and came into the season cold.

He didn’t get sat for a couple of weeks because we didn’t have another option at shortstop.

Either pay attention or stop talking because you’re making a fool of yourself.

Which is fricking retarded compared to the rest. His speed is better than his arm.

Also, if Crews is a 75 hitting then Tommy White should be 70 or maybe even 75. Especially if his power is 80. He hit over .360 last year as a freshman.

Here are Dylan’s scouting grades on MLB.com. It’s a different scoring system than Adam’s but interesting nevertheless. If you are not familiar with professional grades: 50 is mlb player average. 65 or better is future MLB all star. For comparison, Mike Trout was a 70 for both hit and power. I would grade Dylan’s hit tool higher (65) otherwise this seems accurate. Very impressive.

Power 60
Hit 60
Run 55
Arm 55
Field 50
Overall 60

The MAC preview is up on D1B. Western Michigan is picked near the bottom of the conference and has only one player on any of the three prospect lists (23 draft, 24 draft, freshmen).

quote:

Veteran coach Billy Gernon augmented the coaching staff in the offseason, adding long time Toledo skipper Corey Mee as associate head coach and former first rounder Daniel Schlereth to handle the pitching staff. The Broncos will look for immediate improvement from last year’s bloated 8.77 ERA and a league worst .339 batting average against. Adding injury to insult, the pitching staff was without some of their more talented arms last season who are now healthy and ready to contribute. Described as the best athlete on the team, Brady Miller is one of those guys who missed time, as a labrum injury cost him the 2022 season. Big and physical at 6-foot-5, 225 pounds, the righthander was reportedly up to 91-93 this fall, showing improved command. A weekend arm last season, Dane Armbrustmacher (4-6, 6.47) uses deep arsenal that includes an 89-92 mph fastball to strike out a team best 73 hitters last season. After leading the team in ERA (3.05) as the freshman closer in 2021, Ryan Watt sat out last year recovering from Tommy John surgery. Now healthy, he’s primed to reprise his role as a high leverage bullpen arm. A wildcard in every sense of the word, Luke Thelen has a powerful 6-foot-5, 230-pound frame and was purportedly up to 92-95 on scout day this fall. After walking 22 hitters in just 15 innings, however, he’ll need to throw strikes more consistently for the stuff to play.

High waisted and lean, 6-foot-5 first baseman Cade Sullivan (.315/.400/.548) headlines the offensive returnees. A second-team all-conference performer, Sullivan led the Broncos in RBIs last season and will once again hit in the middle of the order. Moreover, he’s a big target at first base who can really pick it around the bag. The MAC Freshman of the Year, right fielder Dylan Nevar will hit in the three-hole after finishing among the league leaders in slugging (.614) and OPS (1.020). More than half of his hits went for extra bases last spring. Third baseman Gavin Doyle (.343/.459/.497) has a patient, mature approach at the plate that allowed him to walk (37) nearly as often has he struck out (41). Shortstop Jimmy Allen started slow last season while recovering from labrum surgery but got hot down the stretch to end the season with a still active 20-game hitting streak. Another returning starter, Will Morrison (.265/.347/.432) is in center field, where he gets high marks for his ability to defend.

The assistant they hired that was a head coach in conference also brought his son to Kalamazoo. He's supposed to be a good player as a freshman.

Andrew Hutchinson
@NWAHutch
Interesting baseball nugget: The SEC is implementing a 10-run mercy rule in conference play this year. If a team is up by 10+ through seven innings, the game is over.

Was able to run down several fly balls in impressive fashion last season. Great range and a great fielder.

I hope Crews leads the team in HRs and wins the Golden Spikes - Legend.

MLB evaluators are idiots. 5 outfielders were picked ahead of trout. 1 high school OF with the 3rd pick.
