Lol, he’s framing was responsible for 5 strikeouts tonight.

We need them because 100% of the TVs in Alabama equals 25% of the TVs in Florida.

1.2k new residents move into Florida everyday. I would imagine similar migration is happening in SC, just at a smaller scale. A lot of them are coming from B10 country.

Add Dylan Campbell to the list of Texas players that should have been drafted. Another player is honestly Hayden Travinski. I understand that he may not be a catcher at the next level but his pure power is undeniable.

The Nationals have a loaded OF prospect list. Add in Crews and Pickney with James Wood (AA), Robert Hassell (AA), Elijah Green (A) all between the ages of 19 and 21. Very impressive.

You are correct, my mistake. I didn't realize pick value for unsigned players draft in the first 10 rounds is deducted from their overall pool. Then I have no idea why clubs pick unsigned players at the end of the draft who already turned down seven figures. That would be insulting! They either think you are stupid or desperate.

Johnson will more than likely get drafted in rounds 17 through 20 but will not sign. Several years ago, the Mets drafted Kumar Rocker 10th overall, but he failed his physical and didn't sign. They received an extra pick in the next draft, but they lost pool money allocated for that pick that could have been used for another player. Now, clubs draft unsigned top 100 players with their last few picks as "insurance" just in case something like this happens. Two LSU commits were drafted by the Brewers in last year's draft for this reason.
re: Can I start getting excited about Cameron Johnson yet?
Posted by LSUshow on 7/10/23 at 10:05 pm
The remaining pool for teams saving up for day 3 is only about 1M - 1.5M. That’s not enough to persuade Johnson to sign. High probability he is coming to LSU.
Now I do expect him to get drafted as insurance in the later rounds tomorrow. Teams do this in case their first round pick fails a physical (e.g. Kumar Rocker). Just fair warning.

re: Way too early 2024 MLB mock draft

The signing deadline for draftees is August 1st (end of day) so players who turn 21 on or before August 1st are draft eligible.

On days 2 and 3, the TV coverage lags too far behind for me to watch. Generally, I follow the tracker and research players on my own.
Keep an eye out for Oakland, Houston, and Pittsburgh, since they still have large pools to spend. College players dominated round 3 last year. It will be interesting to see if history repeats itself.

We should see a lot of LSU players taken during rounds 3 through 7 today. Teams will only have 2 - 3 minutes to select a player so go ahead and plan on not working for the rest of the day.
re: What is a draft eligible sophomore in baseball?
Posted by LSUshow on 7/10/23 at 7:13 am
I believe they changed it to a fixed date every year so to be eligible it’s either 3 years play or 21 on or before August 1st.

The first players off the board in day 2 if clubs only watched LSU this year would be Tre Morgan, Andrew Pinckney, OF Alabama, and Lebron Johnson, P Texas.

My draft prediction after following this process for the past few years.
First round: => Crews, Skenes, Mitchell (HS), Johnson (HS)
2nd & 3rd rounds: => Floyd, Taylor
4th & 5th rounds: => Morgan, Thompson, Jobert, Travinski, Little
6th thru 10th rounds => Money, Cooper
11th thru 20th rounds => Milazzo, Dugas
And I expect them all to sign. You could make a strong case that Coleman, Edwards and Ackenhausen should return unless they get taken during rounds 4th through 6th. All three have the stuff to move up into rounds 2nd and 3rd after a strong 2024 year.

Not sure why no Crews on the list.
Because there is no need for him to attend. Surprised that Skenes is going to be honest.

.973 fielding for a SS is pretty damn good
Plus Braswell's range covers up White at 3B making him a better defender in less space. Similar to what makes Francisco Lindor with the Mets so valuable.

He was a defensive liability at 3rd if you recall. Alabama regularly substituted him during late innings for a better defender. Plus we already have 25+ HR production at that position.
