The ten run mercy rule is bad for LSU who is hoping to play many guys. Mop up duty is still a proving ground or a tip of the hat to guys who are practicing well

While I still don't like the rule, the SEC weekend roster limit means the people you would want to get those reps aren't even eligible to play at that point.
This doesn't affect non-conference games.

MLB evaluators are idiots. 5 outfielders were picked ahead of trout.
So you knew that a random New Jersey who played bad competition and was committed to East Carolina who had most of his HS games rained out his senior year was going to be a generational talent?
That makes you the only person, congrats.

Ell, everyone you disagree with is retarded, stupid, or some other such. Considering some of the embarrassing positions you’ve taken over the years, you are fortunate you are not being judged by you.

There’s no need to knight for Adam. He’s not gonna frick you.

Point being that a knee injury similar to his isn’t going to necessarily affect everything. In fact, the easiest things are when you can just react and you don’t even feel it. The tough things are where you have to take your time and really set your feet… that sharp pain rears its head.
I was kind of with you until you said this. I mean, man this is a Simple Jack kind of stupid take. Pretty easy to see JT's main struggle last year was that he had the yips, lingering injury or not.

Can't it be both? Maybe the knee injury held him back early on and by the time he healed up all the errors were already in his head. This is a pointless discussion

So you say, but he might.

Many thanks for this thread and analysis
Do any of the pitchers feature a good change or splitter?

The starters are more heavy on the power sliders and curves.
Floyd’s got a nice change when he gets it over. Skenes has been able to get some swing and misses in 1-2 0-2 counts.

A month ago, most people figured the DH write up would be on Skenes…

Dandy Don has a three part interview with Jay Johnson that started today
Expect Nipplot to start at 2B from that interview even though I know it's still wide open

The first couple of weeks of fall, Skenes was LSU's best pitcher and best hitter. Then the bottom kind of fell out and his batting average went way down as the fall progressed.
We always knew Jones had power and was a good hitter. If he can continue to hit for average, he will be hard to keep on the bench.
It's going to be real interesting to see how DH plays out. If Jones struggles with offspeed it will open some doors. Once the SEC finds a weakness, the pitchers are good enough to exploit it. I think Jobert will play more in the OF than people are expecting. I'm not going to sleep on Beloso either. He was the starting DH before he was injured last year. He can hit .300 and if the power comes back it will be hard to keep him on the bench. It's hard to see a pathway but I hope Travinski gets his atbats as well. I'm starting to think we are not going to see Skenes DH much at all.
The only two things I would disagree with Adam on is, I think Nippolt will start at 2B and Jobert in the OF. It won't matter much because we will see a lot of rotating there.

Yeah talk about flying under the radar due to all the other ammased star power. Prior to the last few days with Adam's preview and the scrimmage chatter I barely had even heard about Jones but he sounds like he's got the potential to be another monster. I love that we've go so many options with so much potential. No player is going to be on their game all the time so being able to replace slumping players with studs is such a luxury. Seems like there's only a couple spots where we won't be able to slide someone else in without missing a beat.
I do hope the fielding has improved, that was one of our biggest weaknesses last year. I haven't heard much on that front which hopefully means it's not projected to be an issue. Mostly I figure it's just not sexy or fun to talk about competent fielding.

Nippolt has 5BB/1K through the 2 spring weekend scrimmages. I think Jay likes that pesky at bat type of player from the left side. His OBP is .476. Could maybe be a 9 hole to flip the lineup or maybe stick him in the middle of the order to create a good at bat for a power guy further down like Jones or Jobert.
Also, Mahtook had Jay on his show last night. Should have him every Monday evening through the season. I didn't get to listen to it yet but for anyone interested should be able to go to youtube and go to Mik'd Up channel.

Speaking of, did anyone listen to Jay on Mik'd Up last night? If so, is it worth a listen?

I was editing my post as you made your post. I'm listening now. Can come back with anything interesting.
