We are really going to get to see what Jay does as a manager this year.
Completely agree. He has alot of good buttons to push, but timing will be key. And, I say that in the sense of using the right guys at the right times, but also for the right workload. With pitchers, you have to make sure you get the right guys out there at the right time while also paying attention to the bigger picture of a full season and future. With position players, it will be about the right combinations at the right time while also getting guys enough looks and also time to rest.
You'd think it would be easy to manage such a good roster but, in many ways, it could be difficult.

The other excuse we keep hearing was a knee injury, but I’m not buying that one yet. His errors were on wild throws to first base for the most part.
Wouldn’t that make the knee injury part more believable? A knee injury to me would really impact footwork and being able to get in a position to make a strong throw. Moving to a backhand and not being able to plant well or moving to your left and over compensating and in turn rushing the throw because you don’t think it will plant the way you need. I’m not saying it is the reason, but a knee injury doesn’t make it less believable. The lower body is essential to making a strong throw across the diamond. That’s not subjective.

Looking forward to Thompson's redemption this year.
Classic case of the yips last season
It was tough to watch but I'm also optimistic for a better season defensively for JT.

He did everything else fine and seemingly pain free like running the bases or running to balls. I think it’s an excuse to get the fan base off his back which is fine. Maybe he initially had an injury that made him lose confidence or maybe he had the yips and a bad year but he wasn’t the reason our season ended, we didn’t have the pitching.
But it’s hard to make a case that he had a knee problem that we didn’t hear about the whole year when at the time it would have been an easy explanation for why he was struggling.

There were tons of threads on this board this time last year about Thompson being in a knee brace. I posted several times throughout the season wondering if his knee was the problem.
We did know about it you just weren’t paying attention.

I'd love for someone to put this question to wes or jay, if it's not in the works for 2023 I wonder if they will revisit the idea for not this year but next

It was well documented he had a procedure done to his knee before the season and came back with less than a week to prepare for the first game.

They have so many talented pitchers this year, and I expect for that to be a trend. I would think that Guidry getting innings on the mound would mean that he was stalling for playing time as a position player and/or they had some injuries on the mound. And, I guess the only other reason would be that Jay was missing some kind of role guy on the mound, such as a stopper or closer (i.e. he had a bunch of starters, bridges, matchup guys).
I love 2 way players, btw. I'm all for Guidry doing it.

We more or less went from our main utility guy being drew bianco to our main utility guy being Gavin dugas.
Last year we didn’t have a bunch of freshman that were being held off by our vets like this year is gonna be
Such an increase in talent when Gavin dugas may not even be able to start

Johnson a year ago labeled Gavin Guidry as the most important recruit of the class…he’s a draft eligible sophomore so maybe there will be some sense of urgency to use him as soon as he can.

I'm a little confused here?? If Gavin Guidry is a Freshman, how is he a draft-eligible sophomore. Maybe I'm reading something wrong???

Sounds like an improvement from Berry. This is my biggest concern for this season. If we end up with another shitty IF and it isn't worth taking certain bats out of the lineup to improve it. Hopefully White locks it down
