I truly think Jay approaches Fridays as if he has two starters in Skenes and Taylor. Skenes for 5 or 6 then Taylor to finish the game. He said today he would do something like that to keep certain guys pitch count up and ready to go in the weekend. Could see it with Shores too. He also spoke very highly of Little. He basically said that we have 6 or 7 starters and he wants them all used a ton. So we won’t see much of what was happening last year of using 7 guys to get a game closed out.

That’s good to hear. When Mainieri used to take the MLB approach and sub the bullpen guys out after 1 inning no matter what it was infuriating.

I think we still see it but only after our 6 guys are used or there’s a blow out and you are saving arms. We are really going to get to see what Jay does as a manager this year. He’s not really boxed into anything. He’s going to have a ton of options at a ton of positions where any number of guys could be successful. It’s a real manager’s dream.

The Koki Riley article about Christian Little today should be a devastating blow to any Vandy recruiting efforts against us (and probably against the team in state they've losing recruiting battles to for a few years now).

Little also revealed that he underwent surgery to remove bone chips in his elbow, a condition he had since his sophomore year of high school.

"It was kind of just pushed to the side," Little said. "But Coach (Wes) Johnson (and) Jay Johnson wanted me to get that taken care of."

NIL is the death of Vandy but this certainly doesn’t help.

NIL means they can't hold guys hostage anymore.

Jay also said today that having Skenes rest on Saturdays is more for him but it also helps the program moving forward because it shows how much we are willing to do to protect pitchers while still giving two way athletes an chance to show all of their skills. The man just knows how to talk and be completely genuine. And recruits buy in immediately.

Is. The article just piles on because NIL like Project said cuts their legs out from under them. The fund they use to give freshmen full rides and then hold them there on scholarships later is no longer a sustainable model.

Overall this position is the weakest of the team

Until Jordan Thompson shows that last year was a fluke, I’m going with SS. And yeah, he finished okay, but he was abysmal last year.

The other excuse we keep hearing was a knee injury, but I’m not buying that one yet. His errors were on wild throws to first base for the most part.

with how loaded the roster is idk where he slides to now.

If he’s hitting in practice he’ll be in the lineup.
