Over the past decade Barcelona has added about 15,000 housing units.
Over the same period foreign born as a percentage of the population has increased 50% from 22% to over 36% or over 200K increase to 629K.
Tourism over the past decade has increased, needing about 13.4K units per week.....about the same number of units that have been added.
The issue is the 200k additional foreign born needing year around housing.
Course its easier to blame air b&b, developers, etc.

Time for govt to take control of housing. That's the only way to fix it.

I don’t think Barcelona is that great. There’s a few things to see but you can do that in a day or two.

I was in Barcelona last year for a week. What a total disappointment. The streets smell like piss every morning, the women are doing labor jobs like manual street sweeping because the guys are all gay and hang out in cafes all day drinking coffee with their butt buddies, and there are tons of Mooslims taking over.
Also, the food is so bad compared to other nearby European countries.

To that point ball guy, its all by design.
The flashpoint was some developer bought a building and jacked up the rent on an 87 year old woman 5 fold, reduced down to 3 fold. Govt could have stepped in long before she was evicted, but they let it erupt.
Then the socialist president called for no evictions til 2030. Even the socialist parliament saw where that would lead....hordes of additional "migrants" descending on the city, throwing homeowners into the streets and squatting in their homes.
So they will probably force rent control on everyone, which is what they wanted all along.

Just look at our increased inventory of homes after the illegal immigration crack down.

Yep.
Same with job numbers, millions of those illegals had ss# and were counted by bls. Now they are going home and the job numbers are "soft". No they arent. If they were we would not see wage growth beyond inflation which we were seeing every month before the Iran dustup.
Its Americans replacing illegals and the appropriate wages being paid, and there is still growth in the job sector, means a lot of Americans are getting jobs.

Europeans are lazy. Bro, without tourist (they lucky to even have that), they would be in poverty.

Any time you can blame people who are voluntarily coming to your country to hand you money instead of people who are coming to your country to rape and murder you once they've stolen you blind youve gotta do it. Modern left for you.

Ok I draw the line at this comment! lol
The food in Barcelona is excellent, no idea where you went? But def stay away from tourist restaurants just like in any other country.
Food is one of my favorite things in Barcelona.
As far as the pissing smell, you must’ve hung out around Las Ramblas, yeah other than the great food market that street is where most of the crappy people hang out (hippy locals and trashy immigrants)
Unfortunately your other comments are dead on!
My parents were Catalans so I have most of my family there and been there and lived there more times that I care to remember

No matter the issue they'll find a way to blame the productive members of society.

Was Barcelona last month. The city is beautiful but saw a lot graffiti telling us visitors to Go Home!
