I think we get 2 out of 3. Arkansas is weak. Who do we beat and pick a likely loss. I think we beat BAMA And TX lose to TENN away and end up. B 9-3 in the playoffs at an 11 seed.

We'd have to have a LOT of breaks to get in at 9-3. Our resume is VERY weak right now.

9-3 with Texas or Bama and Tennessee as our best wins wouldn't be enough imo.

That’s the worst we can go if we want to make the playoffs. The season comes down to these next 3 weeks baws. Buckle up!

How crazy would it be if we handily beat Alabama and Texas but lose to Tennessee on the road?

I think thats a reasonable projection. If we beat Bama, Texas will be tough for us coming off that win. But win that one, then you have to go on the road to Knoxville. Yeah, thats a gauntlet to run 3-0.

In your scenario, assuming the loss @ Tenner is close, thats 9-3 with close losses on the road against 3 ranked teams. Idk if it ends up being enough to get us past the playoff committee. Maybe, maybe not.

Whats stupid is that there WILL be teams in the playoff with a FAR easier schedule with less losses. Start with #1 Miami. Its possible they play their entire schedule and face only ONE RANKED team the entire way (ND).
Notre Dame and pretty much every Big 12 & ACC have cakewalks compared to SEC schedules. (BTW thanks alot Sankey for pushing the 9 game SEC schedule.)

This is why I for one will welcome a 24 team playoff, so more can be settled on the field and less in a CFP committee of geezers with agendas & bias.

A 24 team playoff would be too many weak teams. I really don’t want a LSU team in the playoff at 8-4.

I was worried before these teams got exposed but I see us winning all 3 and securing a good playoff spot.

Think people are devaluing the amount of eye balls and media Kiffin generates with us in the playoffs. ESPN no doubt has a say in selection committee process while not publicly said they will be lobbying committee members, especially with “hand shake” deal being reported. People across country love watching Kiffin either win or lose depending on where you sit.

12 teams is plenty if you remember the real point is to figure out who the champion should be rather than give out participation trophies. There needs to be a few spots left for lesser teams who finish their seasons undefeated but have super easy schedules (like UCF a while back) so we don’t have to see them give NC trophies to themselves. If LSU ends the redo season 9-3 we don’t need to be in the playoffs. It means we already had plenty of chances to show we could be the champion but failed.

2-13

Our record vs Bama since the 9-6 win in 2011.

2-13

It's Alabama.

Texas is going to get crushed in Tiger Stadium. Tennessee is a really tough game. Arkansas is terrible and they still terrify me, because I still have PTSD from the 2000's

In my opinion, this line of thinking is pre-portal, pre-NIL. There is way more parity now. A team can take longer to gel and be at its best due to huge roster shakeups that are the norm now with the portal. LSU could beat Bama & Texas, and lose a close one on the road to Tennessee, and not make the playoff, but would you be certain that they wouldnt beat #1 overall seed Miami, a team whos schedule included one ranked opponent? What if Miami played LSU's schedule? Mario Cristobal wouldnt go 9-3?

I disagree and if they want to give away a pretend trophy that noone recognizes, or hang a clownshow banner like Ole Miss, they can have at it. They shouldnt get in because they played noone and have no chance to win the natty. Its the participation trophy.

That would be one of the least shocking outcomes lol

Although I could see the committee letting them in if that's how it goes. Secure two big wins against ranked teams lose to Tennessee

The best path is clearly to win out though and that looks more realistic every week

I believe that we're better than all of those teams. But I also know that we haven't consistently been at our best, and so we could lose to any of them. If we're truly rounding into a more consistent team, then I think we win out. If not, there's no way to predict how this will go. College football is a mess, with inconsistency everywhere. I'm seeing all of the teams currently ahead of us either losing to mediocre teams (like we did at Kentucky, regardless of what the silly rankings try to tell you about that team), or struggling to win against such teams. Indiana, for instance, has looked woeful all year against some really, really bottom of the barrel competition, but because they are the defending champs, and they only have 1 loss, there they are right around the top 5.

Anything can happen this year, and that is more true than it has ever been. Which I don't like, but that's where we are.

They have to win out and if they are truly the better team they will. If we lose one we are out and will have to try again next year
