They’ll most likely be ranked so we can potentially have a ranked road game win on our resume.

Them beating GA eliminates any opportunity that our guys go into that game cocky. They will have our full attention.

Lane Kiffin is self aware. He knows theirs a sense of urgency to finally capture a road win in a hostile environment

#1 - Who cares about resume? The CFP committee has shown that it doesn’t care much about resume. They mainly care about wins and losses.

#2 - I think you’re right that we’re playing them at the right time. They’ll be on an emotional low.

I just want a road win. Don’t care about anything else right now regarding their status.

Never root for the team we play next week to lose

I don’t understand this thinking. Maybe if LSU was lightly regarded and the Georgia game had been at Jordan-Hare. That stadium is going to be at peak excitement and the team will be too.

Auburn is going to come out next Saturday and do one of two things. They'll either be hungover from last week and sloppy as hell or they'll carry that momentum over and be a serious problem all day.

Because it’s hard to keep adults, much less college kids focused and on an emotional high week after week. There’s too much rat poison as Nick Saban would say. Auburn just blew their wad against Georgia, who is their second-biggest rival behind Alabama. They don’t care about LSU nearly as much as Georgia or Alabama. Don’t kid yourself.

That’s why you saw Ole lose badly after beating us, Florida lost badly after beating Ole Miss, etc.

Both wins were home games in which electric atmospheres led to an emotion packed wins. Auburn’s win over Georgia was a “business trip”. They won and walked out of a dead stadium.

Kentucky had a gigantic road win against A&M (highly regarded at the time). They have been undefeated since. One of those wins was an exciting road win in OT against a good South Carolina team. They went home the next week and beat you-know-who.

I concede the let-down factor you are highlighting; I just think it is far less of a factor when the previous victory was on the road and the next opponent is a big name team.

This college season has been chaos. There is potential for a 9-3 team to get in. Resume will matter for that team.

True but what’s really best for us is for Ole Miss and Kentucky to keep winning

So they’ll be good or bad is your take?

Prior to this season, they basically said SOS/SOR was not really a factor for them. This year, they specifically mentioned there will be more emphasis on that. Whether that is the case, we shall see.

No. The CFP cares about whatever metric gets them the teams they want. It may be wins and losses or it may be strength of schedule

Agree on all points. It is a good scenario for us and I was pulling for Auburn for this very reason, (not to mention it’s always nice to see #1 go down). However ANY team we play will be fired up to take down the villains of college football that we are now.

Not likely. That win gives them more confidence. Beating #1 Georgia at home is the boost they needed to believe they are a pretty good football team. LSU and Auburn is always a fight and a nail bighter. If our defense plays on the road like they have been, LSU will lose.

Assuming that's a win, is dangerous. We will have a fight on our hands with Auburn. We all clearly believe UGA is the best team in the country but the last 2 weekends have shown that lesser teams have really good players too and the margins are tight on talent.
But yes if we win and maybe drop one to Bama, we could still be in the playoffs. But man the Bama and Tenn games look like tough wins.
I think we can win all the remaining games, but even games like Auburn and Arkansas, Kiffing has to prep the team that anybody can beat anybody and you can' cruise into any game.

They're going to be a problem

It's not like we're some 4 loss team that they can overlook and the LSU/AU rivalry is known for having some very competitive and physical matchups

No way, I actually completely disagree here. Completely different emotional profile for Auburn IMO.

I understand the letdown logic for a program that's already at a sustained level of acceptable success. You were already fine, you get an unexpected big win, the edge comes off next week. Totally with you there.

Auburn's been drowning in the mud for almost a decade. The last time they won 10 games in a season, COVID-19 was still in a Chinese lab. They've been beaten down and kicked and run over for years. If they got stomped by Georgia it would've been business as usual. Instead, they just got one of the biggest wins in their history, even for a prideful program like that, in their new coach's sixth game with the team. AND they did it by going to a different offensive wrinkle (lots of QB running) that plays to their strengths, which confers even more validation. And now they get a top-10 opponent at home who they historically hate too?

Those dudes are going to play like they're on meth The buy-in over there is going to be unreal. I think LSU wins still, but that was about the worst thing that could happen IMO
