I think they're fine with this as long as its not in a state court potentially sympathetic to the school/player

They're using their relationship with the other members of the conference to fill in the gaps that have been exposed in NCAA enforcement authority.

It would be funny if there was a vote to establish a specific court to hear member grievances or attempts to affect rules, and clearly it would be in Alabama

I can also see a future dispute arising from this. I have no doubt the players will win judgements and the SEC will have to pay millions of dollars. There will be a huge brawl when the SEC says LSU has to pay their fair share of this judgement. LSU is the only school fighting for the players and should not have to share in any part of this judgement.

When Kiffin talked to the players, this situation was that they would be held eligible to play. There was no rule broken at the time. The important action was when LSU announced that the players wouldn’t be removed from the roster consistent with the stupidity passed by the 15/16 SEC presidents.

"The only dirt......" Wright has said that 4 other League school were recruiting him "hard". During all the legal mess against LSU was going on. Did The SEC know this? S. Carolina had one enrolled in school. Depositions would be interesting , as well getting Sankey back on the stand for more grilling.

On August 19, 2026 dozens of players filed suit against the NCAA in Baton Rouge in an attempt to get another year of eligibility.
On August 25, 2026 the SEC passed a NEW rule barring SEC schools from rostering any athlete who signed a professional contract, appeared on a professional roster (such as the NFL, NBA, G League, or WNBA), or failed to properly withdraw after entering a professional draft.
SUBSEQUENT to the SEC rule change, certain plaintiffs (such as Dae'Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris) amended their complaints to name the SEC as a co-defendant just before or during the high-stakes preliminary injunction hearing on September 3.
Do you think, after the SEC vote on Aug 25th, that Lane Kiffin called Tony Clayton, the defendants' attorney and "colluded", saying, "Tony, I realize you went to law school, but in light of the SEC's new rule on rosters, don't you think you should add the SEC to these two players complaint"...
or maybe, JUST MAYBE, it was solely the idea of their attorneys?

Collusion is nothing compared to antitrust, civil rico, and intentional interference with contract and not a defense to that either.
