Former Alabama standout Charles Bediako, who entered the 2023 NBA draft and signed a two-way contract with the San Antonio Spurs that year, has been granted a temporary restraining order to return to the Crimson Tide and college basketball immediately, a judge ruled Wednesday.
Bediako, who went undrafted and never appeared in an NBA game after he played on two NCAA tournament teams at Alabama in 2021-22 and 2022-23, had sued the NCAA a day earlier after it denied the school's appeal to allow him to return to college basketball.
The judge's monumental ruling came hours after NCAA president Charlie Baker reiterated that Bediako and other players who've signed NBA contracts would not be granted eligibility to play college basketball.
The case could potentially reshape the sport in a turbulent time. While the NCAA has recently cleared international players with professional experience and G League players, those athletes had not previously played college basketball. This is the first time a player who entered an NBA draft and signed an NBA contract after playing college basketball has been given the chance to return to Division I basketball.

I am not a lawyer and did not sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but I don't see anything remotely pointing to "collusion" against the SEC by LSU, Kiffin, et al. So what is the real legal reason (if any) behind the SEC's lawsuit?

I agree 100%. And whoever is talking about concerns of something LSU has done wrong in the civil discovery and LSU should pay the players in the players lawsuit is insane and must be a bankruptcy lawyer or something.
The risk is all with the SEC and Sankey.

You'd risk LSU missing out on a chance for a title this year so that these players could be paid by the SEC down the road?

I have never pulled more for something than this. I hope that it costs a lot of these arrogant fools their jobs and that every player is granted damages.

I can’t imagine anything could possibly hold up going after Kiffin looking out for one of his former players… so what if Kiffin did counsel and try to help get him cleared, to paint that as collusion against the SEC when 5 for 5 was in place and the SEC hadn’t made its rule yet against players who had signed any type of contract with a “professional” league just makes the SEC look worse.
Basically saying yea the coach you’ve looked up to, to help develop you and make you successful now is off limits and if he tries to help you he’s colluding against us… give me a break.

Thanks for your answer. Sorry for the delay, I had about 4 hours of yard work to slog through after being out of town for 2 weeks. No need to send the documents; I wouldn't know what I was looking at, and I don't want to bother my daughter, who is an attorney.
