Those players taking Sankey to court is the most rational thing to do according to rational people.

A higher court has already deemed them ALL professionals because THEY GET FKN PAID! They’ve been getting paid for years. They’ve been professionals for years. It’s just now legal to pay them. The NCAA, the SEC and all the other conferences just wanna keep ignoring that fact because they know once they do and they acknowledge that it’s over. It’s over anyway they’re fighting a losing battle. They’re just desperate trying to hold onto the cash cow. Don’t think for one minute It’s just conferences behind it or the NCAA. This has huge implications for the media specifically ESPN. They don’t want to lose their control and power over college athletics because that hurts their pocketbook. Why do you think the media came down so hard on LSU making it seem like it was all LSU‘s fault and like we’re the only ones doing it? They want LSU to be the fall guy so they could blame LSU for why college sports was destroyed. So this goes deeper than what people realize. They also don’t want to expand the playoffs past 16 teams because then they have to share media rights.

[quote]The player from Texas is not seen the same as these 2 guys LSU tried.[/quote

There was no “clarification” of the sec rules at the time any of this happened. Somehow the line got moved from participant in NFL activities to now-ok rookie minicamp is fine but signing a contract that gets voided with only gas money paid is not.

The players in question were no different than Cole Hutson at the time that this was filed.

6 months ago, a college team recruiting players in NFL training camps to come back to college would be an absurd scenario to consider.

8 months ago it would have been absurd to consider that a college team would recruit, sign, and play someone who had previously renounced his remaining collegiate eligibility and signed and played for 3 years in the NBA G league.

He is rostered.

They have taken this further than LSU.

Hence why the SEC cannot self govern

You just said it yourself that the SEC was caught off guard in the Chambliss situation and didn’t realize it could use this lever to essentially overturn a local state court ruling against the NCAA. Same with Pavia. Same with Bedioko. Same even with Cole Huston probably.

Put another way, LSU has done nothing that those other schools didn’t do in those previous cases. The only difference is the SEC’s decision to intervene.

Which is fine, we bent the knee. You have to draw a line somewhere. The issue we are all pushing back on is the idea that coordinating with an otherwise ineligible player to get a TRO, when existing NCAA and league rules would otherwise prohibit such player from playing, is a lack of institutional control or some sort of smoking gun that would warrant severe penalties or expulsions is a bullshite revisionist take on the last 5 years of college football.

If you think Sankey is the front runner in all of this, you’re delusional. He has a snake around his neck….wanna guess the name of that snake? You’d probably guess wrong.

Well we took it to the extreme. And the real season is about to start. Clearly the SEC had enough and wanted this for this year.

LSU fans keep trying to make this personal or that it is because they're scared of Kiffin and shite when that's just ego talking.

It's only bullshite in the scenario where the SEC is neutered in enforcement

It's not bullshite in the scenario where the SEC has enforcement authority

That's why I've used various idioms to describe our behavior like FAFO, play stupid games, etc. Assuming we did recruit and coordinate with the players, we did so under the assumption that the SEC had a neutered enforcement authority. If we calculated wrong, the consequences may be severe.

That's why I've always argued this high risk, low reward decision making was stupid.

Ole Miss doing it for a potential Heisman favorite? With a middling shot at a title? There is at least a high reward scenario.

I mean, the theories on this board so far have been Tennessee, Alabama, Ole Miss, and Texas.

Unless you're going to tell me it's Scott Woodward, I think every other possible "mastermind" has been named.

Who attacked who first you moron? LSU didn’t sue the SEC. The players did and all the SEC did was use bs lies because they had nothing else to threaten LSU with and when they can’t prove it with actual hard-core proof with a player getting on a stand and saying yes LSU I had an organized plan to take down the SEC it’s called slander dumbass and in this situation it’s also collusion given the fact that other members of the SEC or behind this two and we all know it’s because they hate Lane Kiffin and some of them are bitter because he either left them or because he rejected their job offer

not really
Players take conferences and the NCAA to court all the time
Everyone skirts the gray. I'd bet Wright and Harris have text message from multiple schools in the conference on their phone

personal or that it is because they're scared of Kiffin

If you don't think that there is a personal element to this because its Kiffin you have your head in the sand. That woman at Tenn who called the vote hates him and there are some Ole Miss alums that work in the SEC office that are also involved in this
Then you add in Wade who multiple other coaches and Admin in the SEC hate

I would assume the SEC would have to show a level of non bias enforcement to win the ability for self governance

I was just thinking about how schools have encouraged players to seek TROs after being denied and nothing happened to them. This is all insane.

Your last paragraph is exactly what it is but they’re too stupid to understand their actions are only going to stop the gravy train even faster when lawsuits b eventually bankrupt them and the NCAA.

Which suit was against the SEC?

The original action by the players filed in EBR did NOT name the SEC as a defendant...just like similar actions filed by players for those schools. It was only AFTER the SEC passed a post TRO rule seeking to prohibit this particular group of players that the plaintiffs in the EBR action amended to name the SEC as a defendant.

In all instances it was actions brought by players seeking a ruling essentially prohibiting the NCAA from enforcing its eligibility rules. In all of those instances the SEC had the same opportunity to hastily change its rules and sue the member institutions arguing it should be allow to independently enforce its rules. Yet, they didn't,...until the EBR preliminary ruling was entered.

The SEC's response isn't a reaction because players, some of whom would join LSU's team, went too far. It's SOLELY because the SEC thinks the Big 12's lawsuit is the golden argument to stop all litigation.

In this instance, LSU may be backing out of rostering the players. But unlike Sorsby, the players are likely to continue legal action against the SEC.
