Why does anyone WANT Boutee to come back
Because at his peak, he's a transcendent talent... easily All American. Possibly a Heisman finalist. People forget that early on, he looked every bit as good as someone like Chase or OBJ.

cost us Bech
See above. Bech, at his peak, can be a nice player.

and Bouttes all about being a prima dona.

He did seem distracted, but I think this decision clears that up.
He's a first rd talent, goes no later than 2nd rd as of now. In fact, he's likely to drop to a better team right now.
If he felt that the world revolves around him, he'd be gone already, getting a personal trainer to prepare for the combine. Teams knew he was coming off an injury and working back into shape, his performance against UGA (best defense in the nation) shows he's ready.

Coming back shows to me that he feels he has unfinished business here, wants to come reestablish dominance and play for something more on a team level.

The Boutte scape goat narrative was invented by the JD honks to deflect any criticisms of him. The truth is Boutte has been a leader and great teammate all season long. It was Boutte who ran to encourage a distraught Malik Nabors after both muffed punts in the FSU loss. It was Boutte who stepped up and squashed the riff between the WRs and JD in the players only meetings back to back weeks. Listen to Kelly talk about his leadership in the locker room, listen to the previous staff talk about having to force him off of special teams because he wanted to contribute any way he could. Not returning kicks mind you, a star WR willing to sacrifice his body on ST for the team. He’s the opposite of a prima donna but somebody had to take the fall for our QBs deficiencies in the passing game.

This is very debatable

Really?

If I'm picking a QB between the two of them to take my team down the field (passing only), I'm taking Daniels 100/100.

Daniels had a much higher completion percentage (8 percentage points higher) while they had the same yards per attempt. Passing touchdowns against power 5 opponents were 17-12 in favor of Johnson and that's really about the only stat he wins other than a slight advantage in total yards.

But the accuracy disparity is what really separate the two for me. Daniels also delivered in the clutch. Other than Johnson's throw against A&M, he was pretty bad with the game on the line. Daniels, on the other hand, seems to thrive at the end of games.

But even if we say there's no difference between Johnson and Daniels, the reality is, Boutte simply wasn't nearly as explosive, or consistent this year as he was in 2020 and 2021 before his injury and that's the difference in the season he had this year vs last year.

maybe that's true, but his demeanor and body language on the field, especially early in the season, was pretty bad.

Boutte under utilization argument for his lack of success this year is greatly over exaggerated. Nabers was second in the SEC in receptions behind only Hyatt and only 4 catches behind him. He was third in receiving yards.

This could have been Boutte. There was more to this than just QB play.

Could be that he not only wants to improve his draft stock but also because he feels that he has unfinished business at LSU and winning more games means a lot to him.

Whether that is a national title, SEC title or even just a NY6 bowl. He wants to break some records and have his name up there with OBJ Jarvis Chase and Jefferson

so naive.

Boutte's coming back to raise his draft stock. Pure and simple.

This may very well be true. I tend to believe it:

This is mostly crap. The JD fans are not generally Boutte bashers.

Stability and promise in the program plus NIL allows him to have a very stable environment for another year during which he can grow into fatherhood and possibly increase draft stock - smart move for a young man whose taken his share of heat around here

With the way that he was under utilized, what would make him think next year is going to be different?

he was 14th in the SEC in catches. 2nd on the team.
