An Arkansas judge ruled with an August TRO that they can be on the roster. The judge did not make a final ruling yesterday so they will be allowed to travel with the team for tomorrow’s game.

That means they're going to destroy everyone with a clear unfair advantage, correct? These are NFL players after all.

I know the easy thing to do is quickly point out the double-standard and claim they all just hate LSU, but seriously...can someone smarter than me explain how they're allowed to roster these guys?

I know multiple teams have these guys on roster, but LSU was threatened by the SEC and never rostered them.

Genuinely asking for an explanation...

The double standard is laughable at this point.

If the SEC did not have double standards, they would have no standards at all! Part of the basic nature of our elitist, oligarchic society - double standards to separate them from us!

Yes, but their coach is not witty during halftime interviews, so it's ok.

We can argue whether the line that the SEC has drawn is stupid, but the line is signing a UDFA contract. Minicamp participation does not require signing a UDFA contract.

Somehow they’ll suspend Lane for this.

Is the line they drew out of thin air non-ambiguous enough that the difference between the two goes from unmentioned/unchallenged by anyone to getting 15 school presidents together and lashing out “for blood”, sanctioning, calling into question the president and AD’s control of the program, a federal lawsuit, and attempting to expel you?

That’s like having 2 pro or whatever we call them now playing with a HS JV team. Arkansas is atrocious this year.

An Arkansas judge

so this judge and the Mississippi judge who let Chambliss play are totally NOT "kangaroo courts" as Paul Finebaum has been describing the Louisiana judge in the TRO case? I just want to understand who I'm supposed to be mad at among all the schools and states doing exactly the same things.

It’s crazy that so many can’t seem to figure this out.

We all think it’s dumb and a huge double standard but it’s abundantly clear that this is where they’ve drawn their line and aren’t going to punish schools for.

Of course not. But that’s what they’re doing and none of the powers that be seem to give a shite.

No, that's why I believe this really has nothing to do with players. The rules isolated Kiffin and LSU from the other schools. The SEC wants to get Kiffin out of the conference after he left Ole Miss before the playoffs. It's a vendetta against Kiffin.

sorry, you need to stick to the rule that was put in place.

quote:

The Rule: The SEC formally prohibits any member institution from rostering players who have signed a professional contract or appeared on a roster in professional leagues such as the NFL, NBA, WNBA, or NBA G-League, or who declared for a professional draft and did not properly withdraw.

was a professional contract signed?
OR
did they not property withdraw from the draft?

I don't think so, but it is clear that that is what it is.

Isn’t the latest and greatest from The NCAA that if you also participated in any sort of mini camp that rules you ineligible?

what you are interpreting as clear is fricking meaningless. none of that is the letter of the law and judges have rules temporarily at least that their lines are fricking ridiculous and the blurred line of what defines a professional athlete these days is long gone.
