I don't feel like getting the link right this second, but according the case in Kentucky yesterday, the NCAA now claims that mini camp participation is a disqualifying offense.

ETA here ya go

I know the easy thing to do is quickly point out the double-standard and claim they all just hate LSU, but seriously.

Anytime I hear anyone with a microphone say that the "NFL players trying to play at LSU" were given a TRO in court, it is ALWAYS stated that it was a kangaroo court by Judge Boudreaux in Baton Rouge.

Meanwhile, there are dozens of examples of TRO's by courts all around the country, most of them near the school that benefits from the ruling, but only the Baton Rouge court is biased.

F them all.

I think so too. Arkansas is not a threat to the league so no big deal right? LSU is going to blow the doors off of people this year. That’s a comparison of why we are scrutinized and no one else is, TN, Bama, Ole Miss they all saw last Saturday. With CLK we are possibly about to embark on a dynasty for years to come.

No

They neither withdrew nor declared for the draft. They were automatically enrolled in the draft because they were out of elligibility at the time

all the players were auto enrolled. That means nothing. They did not withdraw from the draft therefore per new SEC rules, they are now ineligible. No argument about it.

Minicamp participation does not require signing a UDFA contract.

I thought the same thing at one time. But didn’t I read somewhere during the fiasco that the SEC (or maybe the NCAA) considered mini camp participation to also result in a player to be ineligible?

I don’t think you’re just automatically enrolled in the draft right? I could be wrong but you still have to sign up for it. Like the saints couldn’t just draft random player X who has good measurable if he didn’t file draft paperwork.

can someone smarter than me explain how they're allowed to roster these guys?

Because the Arkansas coach didn’t leave his team during a playoff run which that had a serious chance at winning, thus costing the league millions in revenue as well as lost notoriety of being champ. By league standards, the SEC is in a bit of a dry spell as fast as not having a national champion in football goes. It’s all about dollars, not sense.

if your eligibility has been used, then yes you are automatically enrolled in the nfl draft. if not drafted, you are automatically declared a udfa.

Kentucky federal judge threw them all out yesterday. So all this was for nothing.

LSU has a player rostered that fits the exact same criteria as the Arkansas players, and it's not a problem.

People keep trying to explain to yall the differences, but yall refuse to hear it. Those people aren't being anti LSU. They are simply telling you the differences.

Ole Miss booted him.

Tulane's coach had a agreed to take a new job, they let him coach the playoffs.

James Madison's coach had agreed to take a new job, they let him coach the playoffs.

The SEC made a rule after twitter reports that these two players were coming to LSU. They made the rule AFTER court papers had been filed.

There are dozens of players across the SEC playing due to court TRO. But the SEC isn't suing the schools where those players ended up. Only at LSU does the SEC think they can sue the school because players got a court appointed TRO.

The other guys never signed pro contracts, just participated in minicamps (even though waivers and other "contracts" are signed by all minicamp participants)

Not that I agree with it, but that's the line in the sand the SEC drew (after DQW and Harris were granted TROs and committed to play for Lane, mind you).

Even though Harris only received $190 in gas money, never suited up for the Saints (was injured) and reportedly was only "signed" for 2 days.

and the spirit of the TRO was that NONE of these players were given their proper CHOICE of returning back to college during the auto enrolled draft process, post draft UDFA process, invitation to rookie camps, and those that earned a standard udfa rookie contract despite stepping onto a practice field or not. None of them were given the choice given the timeline that the NCAA established the 5 for 5 rule.

It's really funny that they completely dismiss the fact that all of the mini camp participants are signing legally binding medical waivers AKA contracts. They are also being given per diems and other incentives for them being there. How this doesn't cross that imaginary line is baffling...

They seem to be conceding everything but actually signing a contract for the 5-for-5 eligibility cases. Right or wrong, that is what it looks like. Yes, there is a degree of hypocrisy in that.
