A real man would call a team meeting, apologize in front of all the coaches and his teammates for being a pussy, say it will never happen again, and let’s get back to work & go get this ‘ship.

Peetz on the phone telling him he won’t have to block in his offense.

Well he did say he's only "verbally" committed to the transfer portal.

Well he said in his announcement that he was 'verbally' entering the portal. I'm not sure what that means, but maybe it means it's just telling everyone he's looking to transfer, but hasn't initiated the actual process?

I think part of the issue was the chemistry with the hires. Specially on defense.

We as fans should change our tune with Gilbert. The dude is going through some things. The best thing we can do is support him.

Lol what a joke. You really think being Mr. nice guy on a message board has any bearing on this mans decision. Y’all change tunes so whimsically it’s hilarious.

Shitty move to quit on the team-

but frick it - repent - ask for forgiveness, do some extra work to get back in the good graces with the team/coaches and let's fricking ride.

I’m sure after hearing about the comments from LSU fans that he’s champing at the bit to return.
1. he quit mid-season at a big-time football school - I'm sure he expected criticism.

2. No player will let a fan message board influence his decision where to play football.

I would imagine LSU is trying to re-recruit him with promises of a better season next year due to the mass staff changes. I guess to some degree I understand it from Gilbert's perspective.

That said, (unless there is something else we don't know about) it appears for all the world that he quit on his team because they weren't having a good season. How do the guys who didn't quit and stayed in the fight feel about welcoming back a guy who didn't want to stay and fight with them? It could be particularly damaging to team morale if he would essentially be welcomed back as a full time starter and prime offensive option as if nothing happened. What message does that send to the guys who refused to quit?

He is a rare talent that could be a big difference maker. But if I'm a coach, I ONLY consider taking him back (assuming he wants to come back) if I get the blessing of the team before doing so. The other guys who "opted out" did so with the intention to move on to professional ball. Gilbert is a different situation.

All this “team wouldn’t accept him back “ stuff seems way over blown.

I am sure the majority of the team would love to have a generational TE talent as a teammate next year. Regardless of what happened off the field at the end of this season

Would be awful for locker room morale.

Except you and anyone else on this locker board has no idea if his teammates would want him back or not.
