Dave Aranda is set to hire a major figure in the world of SEC recruiting, as sources tell FootballScoop that Austin Thomas will leave Texas A&M to join Aranda in Waco.

Thomas has spent the past two seasons as the Aggies’ associate AD for football personnel. We’re told his title at Baylor will be general manager of football operations.

Thomas and Aranda worked together at LSU, where Thomas spent five years, rising to the role of general manager in 2016. He was the second personnel director in college football and the first in the SEC to hold the GM title.

He was selected by his peers as the FootballScoop Personnel Director of the Year in 2015.

Remember this fricking guy?

The 247 board thought there was a great chance he was going to come back to LSU. I guess O didn’t want him

We began having depth issues on the lines when that guy was "managing the roster." I never got why everyone was so high on him.

Good hire, Dave. Hurts A&M and helps them. I'm all about it.

Austin Thomas is a unicorn. He's some mythical beast that has magical powers. Or he doesn't exist and is just a horse that someone gorilla glued a horn to his head.

sounds like a you problem. Thomas is clearly very good. Do you know who else was on the payroll at LSU when we had depth issues on the lines?

Aranda has made solid moves thus far.

Clearly he paid attention during his time with O and LSU.

Props to him.
