If Leavitt throws the TD on that play, it doesn't win the game for us. We still need a 2 pt conversion. Get that, and we're still not ahead, we're just tied.
And kicking to ball to Chambliss, who now has almost 2 minutes and a timeout to move to within FG range *basically move the ball 35-40 yds.

I like my option better. There's a reason why teams run the clock down, even when behind and trying to tie.

Leavitt stays inbounds, Ole Miss either burns the TO or the clock runs. We don't jump and get a penalty, I think Jones runs twice (to the 2, then in) for the score, then we see a Leavitt run for the 2 pt conversion.
I'm pretty confident that was the plan.

LSU's Defense gave up a score to end the half and the score to end the game.

None of that nonsense is relevant because Leavitt takes off running instead in the play linked in the OP. Misses a wide open TE in the endzone & throws his final pass into the facemask of D-Lineman that ends up being picked off.

You've spent all day vouching for a hypothetical scenario that NEVER happened. A hypothetical scenario & strategy that is beyond ridiculous when you consider the fact that Leavitt struggled all game long reading coverages, struggled feeling the pocket & his footwork & an inconsistency with his accuracy.

Wasting plays is not an option with how Leavitt was struggling. You score when you have opportunity plain & simple & let the rest play out as it may because at some point, the defense has to make a stop to win whether it's at the end of regulation or overtime.

I'm not going to keep arguing with you about this.

We played sloppy and made a lot of mistakes, both mental and physical, and were still in position to force the game to overtime. I'm not that stressed out, because it was quite possibly the toughest game on our schedule and 95% of our mistakes are fixable.

That is as good a picture as any to show just how little SL can see on the field. There are very few qb's in the nation that would not have thrown a td pass on that play....let me rephrase that, there are few decent HS qbs that would not have thrown a td pass on that play. And the one to 44 who was literally standing wide open with no defender within 5 yds and SL missed him from about 10-12 yds. That was even more pathetic that the one shown in this clip. I guarantee you that Clark would not have missed either one of them,,, but SL was LK favorite and highest paid, so LK is going to play him until he is hurt and when it is too late for the Tigers this year. I hope LK surprises me, because I honestly believe that is the only chance LSU has this year. So many good things on the team but having a qb that can't see and can't accurately throw negates every other postive this team has.
