He was looking t out run the 2 defenders in front of him. I have faith in Kiffen and Weiss to fix that much like they fixed JD when he was here. If kelly and Sloan can do it so can Kiffen and Weiss.

all he had to do was put a little zip on the ball to #4 running towards the out of bounds. Easy TD.

YOU HAVE TO FOCUS ON SCORING YOURSELF & GETTING THE TWO POINT CONVERSION. HOW HARD IS THIS TO UNDERSTAND? IF YOU DON'T SCORE THERE, OLE MISS GETTING THE BALL BACK IS IRRELEVANT!!!

We were running the ball well all second half, it's the ONLY reason we were in the position we were. It was 1st and goal at the 10, which means you now have 4 plays left. 1:52 left in the game and we still have a TO, so zero hurry.
In that drive, we ran the ball 8 times.
Jones, 3 times- 6 yds, 8 yds, 6 yds.
Gage 2 times- 0, 2 (he didn't need to be out there unless Jones was tired)
Leavitt 3 times- 13 yds, 5 yds, 4 yds.
We threw it 7 times- 2 completions in the flats, 5 incompletions including the INT.
We started that possession with 6 minutes left, and opened with 2 straight runs. So we were always going for "make this the last possession". Never pushed the ball with intent to score quick. And y'know what, it was working fine: we had 2nd and goal from the 5. 3 running plays from the regular offense and we're going to score. The false start on 2nd down was the killer, that made it 2nd and goal from the 10 again.

What you can see is that Leavitt isn't in a position to pass. That means it would take too long for him to get rid of the ball before the defender in the flat could drop and/or Harris ends up out of bounds
That's his problem. In reality, that ball should already be out. If he learned to escape pressure to throw (and the techniques to do that), he would be able to make these plays. But, the ball is tucked like a RB right there.

Yet what did all of this get them team? A big fat loss because opportunities were missed in the final goal to go situation.
You are actually proving my point for me without even realizing it because not being able to score in that situation made Ole Miss getting the ball back irrelevant.

Someone run the video of that play; I think it was always a run. Leavitt was supposed to go down in bounds, to make Ole Miss burn their last TO.
When he goes out of bounds, he screwed it up.
We would have had 3 plays from the 5 to get in, they would be out of timeouts.
Then the false start really blew it up.
I think the plan was Jones for a couple runs to get in, and Leavitt for the 2.
Get to OT, keep steamrolling on the ground and hope to stuff them on a 2 pt conversion.

Its so easy to sit here and play arm chair quarterback. That is not as easy of a throw as it looks. The front defender stops he can knock that ball down or pick it off.
Levitt will continue to improve as the year goes on. Yes he missed some throws but he is tough as nails and did some good things as well.
