Our defense would not allow us to win that game. How do you win a game win you are behind on points and Your defense keeps allowing more? We could have scored 90 points and Tgey could have scored 100. People being mad at Bama is a waste of energy. It’s not like our defense was just kinda bad. They were down bad. Our defense let us down. The defensive staff let them down. LSU is the reason LSU is not in the playoffs. Period.
Only counter I have is that you just never know. Turnovers. Finally get a stop. Missed FG. Something.
But largely, I agree with you. The Ole Miss and Bama games were two of the worst defensive performances I’ve seen in the last two decades as an LSU fan.

What happens with the Alabama defense without their star de?

We would've still had a chance based on how fast we scored on Bama when he was in there. It's just that the defensive
plan and defense was so bad that it seemed unlikely that we could even up the score or take the lead without a turnover and an onside kick recovery or something.
Then again, it seemed extremely unlikely that Bama was going to beat Auburn, but they did. We'll never truly know. When you put up 28 on the road in 3 quarters at Bama, you should win.

After the Daniels injury, Bama's remaining drives were a missed FG and the end of the game.
If we score on the drive where Daniels got hurt and then Bama misses a FG as actually happened, we have the ball with a chance to tie and send it to OT.
That may not have happened, but it is not an unrealistic possibility.

Bama was the better team that day. Get over it.

I just stated a pretty realistic scenario where we tie the game, so perhaps you should get over it.

They should have had a brawl over that hit. It was an intentional hit to injure Daniels. No doubt about that.

All the defense needed to get was one stop to make it a 7 point game. If Daniels was still in, I believe were in that game til the very end
Right. So the defense would have to get 2 stops. They hadn’t gotten a stop since the first drive of the game. The 2 LSU drives prior to Jayden getting hurt ended in a punt and an interception. The likelihood of LSU getting 2 stops and scoring 3 touchdowns before the end of that game was very very low.

The game was already over when Daniels was knocked out.
Exactly. Only way a comeback was possible was for the defense to get a couple of stops. That was not going to happen .

Sadly, I don't think the defense ever gets that stop. That's simply how incompetent House was this season. Alabama punted ONCE the entire game. The very first drive. Every other time they either scored a TD or made/missed a FG. So even if Daniels stays in a scores on that drive to make it 42-35, Alabama would have just scored again to extend the lead to 14.
Much like the FSU game, the game was lost with two critical errors. Mason Taylor drops a 2nd & 17 pass that would have set up LSU with 3rd & short in a 28-28 game. LSU was forced to punt and Alabama quickly scored to go up 35-28. If Taylor catches that pass LSU is likely able to hold serve and keep the back and forth going. The next possession a deflected pass is intercepted. Alabama scores again to make it 42-28. Alabama broke LSU's serve there and the game was effectively over even if Daniels wasn't taken out.
What JD really wants to say, but isn't, is "If our useless fricking DC could have done ANYTHING this year, we would have not only won 11 (maybe 12) games, but blown out most teams in the process. Instead, he put us in a position where the offense often had zero margin for error."
The irony is that the defense's complete incompetence is maybe THE reason Daniels is set to take home the Heisman. He had no choice but to be great every possession of every game.
Sadly, this will go down as one of the biggest "what if" years in LSU football history. And House should now join Tepper in infamy as one of the rare situations where a single coach destroyed what could have been a championship season.

Im going to post TAMUs drive chart.
Drive 1-4 plays downs
2 17 plays TD
3 9 plays FG
4 13 plays TD
Half
5 7 plays TD
Looks pretty bleak right? In fact we punted at the 1:30 mark in the 3rd quarter. The only two drives they didnt score on was the opening drive of the game and a missed FG in the 3rd. Sounding almost word for word how the bama game looked late in the 3rd....
We were down 24-21 vs TAMU to start the 4th we were down 35-28 to start the 4th vs Bama.
Yeah they extended the lead early in the 4th but we can and do score quickly when we need to.

Not as low as you may think.
First, the defense may have only needed one stop, which actually happened since Bama missed a FG on their next series.
Second, LSU had back-to-back drives in the first half which also resulted in no points (downs and missed FG). Our next 3 drives resulted in TDs. Don't forget we have the #1 offense in the country led by Mr. Heisman.
Again, if we score on the drive where Jayden got hurt, it is a 7 point game. Bama missed a FG on their next drive. No guarantee it happens the same way, but it at least shows our defense had the ability to make a stop. If that happens, we get the ball back with a chance to tie. Bama missed that FG with 4:30 left. Our average TD drive
that game was 2:52, which would have left Bama with 1:38. Our longest scoring drive was 4:05 which would have left Bama with 25 seconds.
I'm not saying we would have won, but we had better than a punchers chance to come back as we had already shown in the 1st half. People acting like the game was over are wrong.

This goes down like 2009 Peterson INT game to me. People always likes to act like there was no way the offense was going to do anything it that game even if we got the ball back....well we were only down 6 and we already scored a couple TDs in that game. A big momentum swing like an INT? who knows what happens.
JD breaks off a 60 yard TD run on that drive that he got injured on or throws a 40 yard TD. Milroe is feeling some pressure at that point. They HAVE to keep scoring. The defense gets a little fire and comes up with ONE stop. Who knows what happens.

If we keep scoring it puts pressure on their offense and they might make a mistake. We'll never know what the outcome would have been in an alternate scenario.
They had already stopped us. Once they were up and made us chase that was it. We couldn’t get a stop. Couldn’t make that ground up. I know what you mean but that wasn’t happening and tgat wasn’t a surprise. They were too much more of a complete team than us on that day.
