That still burns me,” Daniels said,”Obviously we lost to a very good team, but I felt like it would have been a whole different story if I was in there.”

And Alabama got into the playoffs because someone else’s QB got hurt.

I was actually a bit shocked that this board wasn’t going crazy during the Iron Bowl, they should have been flagged for a 15 yard dead ball penalty at least three times, including two late hits to the QB.

They DGAF. Saban gambles on it and usually doesn’t even get the penalty called.

100% intentional and premeditated. Saban and Bama are classless fricks!

Only counter I have is that you just never know. Turnovers. Finally get a stop. Missed FG. Something. But largely, I agree with you. The Ole Miss and Bama games were two of the worst defensive performances I’ve seen in the last two decades as an LSU fan.

I hear u. That’s the unknown part. I just believe the chance that our defense would do something h to make up that ground was slim to none. Especially with milroes mobility. We were not good enough with Jayden that day and we weren’t good enough without him. That day. Let me just say one more time what a catastrophe Matt house and this defense was. Number 1 offense in all the country. That is no small task in this league. This should have been another notch in LSUs belt. To some I’m being cynical, I know. This should have been a playoff year. They weren’t just kind of bad. They were so bad you would think they were trying to be bad.

They literally didnt get a score on the following drive. We had time left to do what we easily have the capability of doing with Daniels at QB.

The reverence shown for a team that needed a MIRACLE to beat Auburn I will never understand.

That’s not what our QB thought.

It seems more and more like people don’t even care if the actual games play out

Once we got 2 TD's behind, we weren't catching up. Only because our defense could not stop them.

15 yard penalty to secure a W? The game was already over when Daniels was knocked out.

Far from it. We were tied at half and had been back and forth all game.

I can't help but believe that Saban put a hit out on Daniels.

Sadly, I don't think the defense ever gets that stop. That's simply how incompetent House was this season. Alabama punted ONCE the entire game. The very first drive. Every other time they either scored a TD or made/missed a FG. So even if Daniels stays in a scores on that drive to make it 42-35, Alabama would have just scored again to extend the lead to 14. Much like the FSU game, the game was lost with two critical errors. Mason Taylor drops a 2nd & 17 pass that would have set up LSU with 3rd & short in a 28-28 game. LSU was forced to punt and Alabama quickly scored to go up 35-28. If Taylor catches that pass LSU is likely able to hold serve and keep the back and forth going. The next possession a deflected pass is intercepted. Alabama scores again to make it 42-28. Alabama broke LSU's serve there and the game was effectively over even if Daniels wasn't taken out. What JD really wants to say, but isn't, is "If our useless fricking DC could have done ANYTHING this year, we would have not only won 11 (maybe 12) games, but blown out most teams in the process. Instead, he put us in a position where the offense often had zero margin for error." The irony is that the defense's complete incompetence is maybe THE reason Daniels is set to take home the Heisman. He had no choice but to be great every possession of every game. Sadly, this will go down as one of the biggest "what if" years in LSU football history. And House should now join Tepper in infamy as one of the rare situations where a single coach destroyed what could have been a championship season.

We needed ONE stop to have a chance to win that game

Missouri, Ole Miss, and even Texas a&m had statistically better offfenses than Bama, and the defense was able to get at least one stop in the 2nd half against all of them.

we should have had a freshman lineman come in for a couple plays to take a shot at Turner down low. I hate saying that but it needed to be done.

I still think why did not one of the lineman retaliate , that’s what pissed me off

Thank God they are not as stupid as you. That would have accomplished nothing except nullify the 15 yard penalty against Bama.

Also, only one lineman even saw it - the guy who Turner beat. All the other guys knew is that the QB was hit and it was NOT targeting. They didn’t have the luxury of looking at it in slow motion. They were busy catching their breath and getting ready for the next play.

After the hit:

12 quarters

1,020 yards passing and 13 TDs
450 yards rushing and 4 TDs
150 points scored
and our defense stopped Bama a grand total of one time. One. We weren't winning that game.

And remember, even though it wasn't targeting, Bama got hit with a 15-yard penalty.

This board is so Bama-obsessed that it's looking for ANY excuse to blame the loss on.

Blame our defense.
