My wife of 12 years understands the commitment, but when I'm streaming a McNeese St game at the restaurant in the middle of the week she starts to get annoyed, lol.

Same here. My wife knows it’s the CWS and even watches and cheers with me. But when I watch a mid week game Vs nichols isntead of a show we’ve been into she gets annoyed.

If you need “a pass” to watch a ballgame, just kill yourself. What sort of miserable count are you married to?

And she gets confused on rules so she asks me a million questions throughout the game and I want to punch her in the face.

One of my favorite things in sports is teaching a new fan about the game. You should be able to enjoy that.

I don’t have to do it as much anymore but I was giving constant commentary explaining situations / possibilities / rules / context / players throughout the super regional.

Yesterday we allow one on first with nobody out & she says, “so pitching for a double play right?” Put a smile on my face.

Helps that LSU has been fun to watch this CWS, but seeing someone slowly become invested and fascinated is a blast!

Her first football game was vs Texas in 2019 (year we started dating) — needless to say, she is now a football fan for life

How does this even happen? I’m genuinely curious

Girlfriend got mad watching midweek games, started to come around during regionals, now she’s over here invested. It’s been a transition but she’s coming around

You don't understand...

She has ADD. She will ask the same questions over and over during the year. I will even have to say, remember, we just talked about this.

- Explain the infield fly rule again?
- What does a balk mean again?
- (Every time, 2 outs, and a guy on third base, ground out to first): If he touched home base before he caught it at first, did that run count?

And then, in situations, I will start explaining something to her and she'll start arguing the rules with me. How stupid that is. And I'm like, it's been a rule since the 1800's, I don't know what to tell you, f*ck.

Dude, I love her to death. And she LOVES anything LSU sports (we're both grads), and her son tells me she really didn't until we got together. She's all in. But she just drives me crazy sometimes. But I'll take that all day over the alternative.

This is where I was a couple of months ago. Now, she's bathing the kids and feeding them early so she can sit and watch it with me at 6 pm. She is completely into it now. Maybe b/c all she's heard from me for months is, "Baby, this team is special. I have to watch every bit I can."

to be fair i didn't even understand what happened on that play with morgan hiding the ball and had to re-read the explanation on here a few times.

My wife doesn't give a rip about sports but is the most positive person I know and understands that I'll be on cloud nine when we win. So she's all for it. Date night is Friday night so that covers me watching Sat night.

And besides, I watch it out in my shop like a man. Don't care what she watches.

Mine has been the opposite.

Back when the season started she said, "I remember a few years ago you watched Baseball for a month".
However, when the series started she often asks,"When is the next game".
If she is not busy or going to Church, she watches the games with me.
It's taken 55 years but I have finally made a sports fan of her.
Her family never, ever, watched sports.

You're completely correct. And I tell her, look, balks are so damn complicated, it can be a number of things, some of which I don't even see. Usually, I just accept that the pitcher did something...

Then it becomes, maybe his foot moved? Maybe his hat is crooked? Maybe it was the grip he had on the ball? Maybe he said something to the REF.

And I just start tuning out...

I’m so glad I married a sports fan.

I couldn’t imagine being married to someone who nagged me about watching LSU sports.

She wasn’t raised an LSU fan but she’s fully converted now and is on pins and needles with me every game.

All you single young bucks. Find a girl who likes sports. Who grew up watching sports with her father. Trust me. Otherwise you’ll end up like poor CAD here.
