Going to the Tennessee game for my one sec road trip a yeAr tradition. Staying in pigeon forge. Has anyone visited Neyland stadium before or have any insight?

Pigeon Forge is not even close. Hope you're bringing family to Dollywood or something.

UT is a fantastic SEC atmosphere, but the stadium sucks. Their seats are like 14 inches wide.

Knoxville itself is a great town. And Tennessee has a nice campus. Now,with that said Neyland Stadium is awful. Its an 80,000 seat stadium with 105,000 seats crammed into it.The seating is just miserable. The rows are about 2/3s apart the distance at Tiger Stadium. You sit sideways with someone's knee in your back.

I went in 2001

We should have covered Kelly Washington

I'm looking forward to going back this year, but the stadium is steep and the seats are packed in on top of one another.

100% accurate. They pack you in there like sardines. Still, a great atmosphere that's worth the visit.

Yeah pigeon forge is close to an hour away according to gmaps . I just really like there and the Gatlinburg area to kinda sight see.

We're staying out in the middle of nowhere as well, renting a cabin and making a mini vacation out of it.

Listening to ROCKY EFFEN TOP every 2 minutes gets as old as Starkville.
Didn't interact in any positive way with VOLs. They just were Aloof shall I say.
Except for the 2 a-holes sitting behind us that started some shite with an old man and everyone of us around there stood them down. They were ejected, too.

I really enjoyed my Knoxville trip years past.

Yes, you are packed in there but it is worth trip.

Their fans are very hospitable, the talent is easy on the eyes and it is impressive the amount of people decked out in prison orange.

I loved getting to party with the people tailgating on their boats on the nearby river.

Sad I won’t be going this year.

I went in 2011, and it was a tremendous experience. That stadium got quiet very quickly back then, but I can also see how it can be crazy in there if Tenn is winning or even playing competitively.

In other news, I sang this to their beloved rocky tope tune: "Good ole Tiger bait; Tiger bait Tennessee! Ohhhhh, Rocky Top, you'll always be a scrimmage to meeeeeee! Good ole Tiger bait; Tiger bait Tennessee!"

Yep...pray that everyone on your row weighs about 110 pounds.

Yes. Probably my favorite SEC road game when we have them on the schedule. Gatlinburg, Pidgeon Forge is great. Their fans are pretty awesome too.

agreed. Nice environment, but the seats are very narrow and you're crammed in. It's not nearly as loud as I thought it would be.

Yeah, great trips. Brought motorcycles once, really nice riding up there. Rented a condo in Gatlinburg, great views. Gotta eat at Ye Olde Steakhouse!
