BTW, the Head Baseball Coach has to take some of the blame for allowing this tacky crap to be put in at his home baseball facility.
The guy delivered a national championship the year before last, and has a top five team this year, and you pussies are complaining about batters’ eyes and bullpens. Just win, baby!

this is so clearly an afterthought.
they just wanted to add expensive seats

none of you guys have gone back and looked at the rendering. There will be more room created under the bleachers to house a full bullpen. There will be a door and a window so that they will be able to see the field. It was announced MONTHS ago.
Stop being such miserable whiny people who do nothing but complain.
They might be able to add a door, but overall, that is what the bullpen is going to be. You can't just "create more room" by taking out all of the structural support for the bleachers.

Was there really much demand for those field box seats? Most of the baseball donors will be sitting behind home plate in the shade or in the suites.
Seems like these will just be corporate seats that will be used by people who are there just to take their instagram selfie in the “premium seats” then leave by the 3rd inning.
Sucks for the people in the 1st few rows down the lines.
The bullpen ceiling is higher than it looks in the pictures. It still looks about as half assed as it gets. Reminds me of a storage shed that’s tucked under the bleachers at an old high school football stadium.

Ask Penn State?

In a presentation to the Trustees' Committee on Fiance, Business and Capital Planning, Penn State Athletic Director Patrick Kraft outlined the process and a high-level timeline for the Beaver Stadium renovations. According to a university statement, Penn State has budgeted the project at $700 million, to be funded through a variety of measures, including loans, fundraising, potential "naming opportunities," sponsorships and new premium seating options. In addition, Kraft said the athletic department will embark on a "major philanthropic campaign" of more than $200 million.

There are literally so many high school parks around here with better bullpens than this. This is like rec level bullpen. This is downright awful and unfathomable how this couldn’t have been done better. Was there just no other possible place to put bullpens? Just put them back on the field for crying out loud. Or just do what the Cubs did and create some bullpens underneath the concourse.

Yea there was “room created” under the bleachers.
No where in your links does it say anything about a door and a window. Now stfu and let us bitch.

That’s a 8 foot ladder (7 steps) for reference. So the left side of the pen appears to be 7 feet high maybe, just guessing.
That is comical

Wouldn't be an "upgrade" for LSU if it wasn't half-assed

quit complaining. You are not at engineer. Let the adults do their job

There is room for three home plates.
The side is about 10 feet tall.
There is a door in the OF fence.
The whole pen is about 70 feet long and 20 feet wide. I think we’ll survive

The low side is more like 7.
The fact that we are talking about a high and low side in a bullpen is weird. I feel like it’s not an optimal place to warm up.

Wrong, the low side is about ten feet.
The high side is over 17 feet

We really shouldn't have ordered our bullpen on Temu.

I was a big proponent of leaving the bullpens as was since the beginning of time at LSU, but the visitors side is how it should have been done on both sides if it truly was a "player safety hazard". It was done simply to be a money generator as per norm with this athletic department.
I will say that the field level seats are lower than I expected. I think that the traffic in and out of the area will be a problem for those on the front row and seats along the aisles. Biggest problem is you're likely gonna have corporate "fans" who have absolutely no care or baseball etiquette and if true that they'll be catered seats, a constant stream of waiters that will add to the volume of standing foot traffic obstructing view to existing seats.
On the topic of the home bullpen. It is much higher than the pictures suggest. It certainly looks shabby but there is adequate room there underneath. They hung some sheet metal to protect players from spilled drinks/beers etc. And it appears that it will be completely enclosed with netting.
I spoke with Coach Yeskie as we both overlooked the bleacher covered bullpen and he said that at a previous coaching stop a similar setup was constructed. In his opinion the lighting will have to be tripled, as that had happened in his previous experience.
I think it could be distracting to be warming up under several hundred stomping fans. Also this is all located in close contact with where students enter and exit the student section bleachers to buy beer. Hopefully the pitching staff will be able to tune out the new and additional noise down there.
Honestly the players do a large majority of their warming prep in the indoor facility already. If Jay gets his wishes for an indoor infield that serves the dual purpose as batting cages, he's already said that he wants to use the current batting cages as real estate for a vastly expanded pitching lab. Once that happens, the shitty bullpen will lessen its significance in the grand scheme.

The nets to protect these new seats completely suck. Not only a pain in the arse to view game action through, but now there are these big metal poles erected to hold them up.
The main thing the fans have lost now is the ability to interact with the players, kids getting foul balls/autographs along the wall, "victory laps" that don't include the diehard fans who have made the Box what it once was.
It all completely detracts from the original fan experience that put this program on the map decades ago. Going in completely the opposite direction to chase them dollar bills yall.
