I think with more creative play-calling in the run game (and I'm not talking about reverses and trick plays), our running game will be much more productive when we really need it to be (with decent blocking). Ensminger went to the well too many times with certain plays. We didn't give defenses many different looks last year.

No RB is not an issue. Only real weaknesses on this team are the OLine and TE positions. Rest is stellar.

We haven’t had a standout RB since 2019.
It's only 2021

Love the talent in that group. Hope Peetz can utilize each of their skillsets appropriately. Davis-Price I think is the most "every down" back with experience and I think he gets a ton of carries this year and is a decent pro.

What’s there to worry about? This is the deepest RB group we have had in years. One will rise to the top. I think Ty Davis-Price will end up with 50% of the carries and the rest of the guys will make up the over half.

Not quite. The scheme LSU was force to employ because Finley was so flatfooted had a lot to do with it also. As soon as Finley was replaced with Max Johnson, the running game perked up significantly.

I haven’t seen any alpha dog in either TDP
TDP played his butt off last year. They just kept pulling him out every other series to try to give the other one a chance. He has shown he can be the man

Our depth chart in 2019 only had 4 on scholarship:
Edwards-Helaire
Curry
Emery
Davis-Price
That worked out pretty well.

I love tdp cause he takes what is there.
He just isn't a home run hitter.
To me he will be the starter but someone else is going to have to step up.
Hopefully peetz can unlock emery.

ON PAPER there is talent and depth, in reality, remains to be seen what we have. None of them have done anything at the college level yet to show they are anything above average talents. Of course two of them are true freshman with good high school resumes, so who knows, and the other two are juniors with good high school resumes as well. Would hope that at least one of them could show something special at the college level this season

I could see Kiner busting the frick OUTTT and have a JV type of freshman season. Dude is stupid talented

There is talent. Production depends on how well O line does its job.

We were playing true freshmen QBs. Sometimes, in college ball, the play calling is restricted by the players’ knowledge of the playbook.
And even with that constraint, the play calling was great last year. I would have loved to have used the RBs more in the passing game, but they were apparently limited.

I see no concern to be worried. We have 2 stud Juniors and 2 stud freshmen plus Williams as added depth, so we have 5 RB who can play. TDP and Emery need to put up this year or Goodwin and Kiner will pass them up. And I think those 2 Juniors will step up and shine.

No we have good depth. If we lose 2 RBs we still have two RBs. We are not a run first team. None of the top teams are.
