Low - feel like 1/9/12 is too easy if a pick. So I will go with Florida 2009. Tebow coming off concussion protocol and you know Florida would be hesitant to use him fully. Florida ranked 1. We were ranked 11 I think. Our offense set back time 50 years. To this day there are babies and families which never existed because the potential parents watched this game and decided they couldn’t exist together in such a bleak world. We lost 13-3. We could have had 100 quarters we wouldn’t have scored more than 10 points.
High - first BCS title game. Never thought we would get over that hump.

All time high was 2019 National Title (generic but true) or Bama 2022.
All time low either 2011 Title Game or 2012 Bama…. cannot explain how disappointing it was to watch Yeldon score.

The high is a tie between beating Alabama and winning the national championship in 2019.
The low would be the Shaq/Chris Jackson team that had so much talent our third string could have started for other teams but we didn't even win the SEC.

Best 1971 notre dame game. The night I became an lsu fan living in Michigan. National tv arse whipping 28-8 and the famous south end zone goal line stand. I had never heard any stadium be that loud… sure enough, 8 years later in moved here.
Worst: 1982 losing to Tulane after an epic performance against FSU that sent us to the orange bowl. We were
So much better than them. Flat as can be.

How old are you? LSU went 45 years without a national championship. Post Paul Deitzel, lsu had 1 top 5 finish, under Mike Archer, prior to Saban’s 2003 championship. I loved 2019 and it may very well be the high point in regards to what many watched as an LSU fan but people that say the 2003 National championship after 45 years of a championship drought make as compelling an argument.
That Warren Morris home run was also spectacular and is probably the moment that was the most surreal and awe inspiring to me.
Low points? 2012 Bama regular season loss is high on my list. The 2017 loss to Troy at homecoming was an awful feeling, that was probably it for me. The 2007 3OT loss to Arky was bad but mitigated by other teams loses that propelled LSU right back into the NC picture.

know everyone will say 2011 was the all time low, but I think getting our arse handed to us in the final four in 2006 was equally as low for me.
That was such a fun basketball team and they got severely outcoached against ucla in the final four. It was embarrassing.
As a big basketball fan that night was definitely disappointing. The reason is because that Final Four run was so unexpected you kept waiting for it to end...in the Sweet 16 vs. Duke, or in the Elite 8 vs. Texas. When LSU made it to the Final Four I had started to believe "We're going to win this damn thing!" But because the run was always unexpected it wasn't completely crushing when it ended because it was always in the back of your mind that LSU was kind of on "borrowed time".
The high was the 2003 championship. A good program that could intermittently compete in the top 10? Sure. A National Championship?! That wasn't in the realm of realistic possibility at that time for LSU fans.
Low:
I initially wanted to say the 2007 loss to Arkansas which, at the time, appeared to crush what should have been a championship season from the beginning. But given a week later LSU was selected for the the national championship game mitigated that low.
So for me, the 2012 loss to Alabama takes that spot. LSU entered that game 5th in the BCS standings with 1 loss. A win that night would have put them ahead of Alabama in the SEC West standings and on the inside track of returning to the championship game to get what they should have won in 2011. It also would have been sweet revenge for the BCS loss.
The first half wasn't great and going into halftime with Alabama scoring in the final minute to make it 14-3 made it feel like the 2nd half was just going to be an inevitable blowout. Then mid-way through the 3rd quarter LSU caught fire. Mettenberger never played better than he did in that second half. He was getting the shite beaten out of him, but kept delivering big throw after big throw time and time again. Alabama's defense was helpless to stop him and LSU. That 2nd half may have been the most electric Tiger Stadium has been in 100 years. I always tell people if you want to see Tiger Stadium at its absolute peak go watch the CBS video of the play at the end of the 3rd quarter where JC Copeland catches a pass out of the backfield, breaks two tackles, and rumbles down the LSU sideline. There is a field-level shot of the LSU sideline right after he is tackled. The crowd is going so wild the camera violently shaking.
LSU was one play away from nailing down the win. Up late, in Alabama territory, with Alabama almost out of time outs, ALL LSU needed was one first down to end the game. Mettenberger had been unstoppable. Yet, in that moment the aggressive "Matt Hatter" who never faced a risk he didn't accept cowered. He took the ball out of Mettenberger's hands and settle for a FG attempt that even if good kept it a one score game with time on the clock for another Alabama possession. He had a chance to step on Alabama's throat...and he chose not to.
We know what happened after that, and that was the quietest walk I've ever experienced coming down the ramps of Tiger Stadium. Everyone was stunned and crushed. IMO, that night was the pinnacle of the Les Miles era. Everything from the moment he chose to play for the FG until the point he was fired was all downhill.
That loss remains crushing even in hindsight because a win potentially could have changed course of history. If LSU wins that game it is very likely they meet an outmanned ND in the championship game. They stop Alabama from repeating as champions. A win makes Miles' record against Saban 4-3. If LSU goes on to win the NC, they arguably gain the upper hand in the arms race vs. Alabama at that time because it would have been LSU's third championship in 10 years and 4th championship game appearance. The gap between Alabama and LSU wouldn't exist because LSU would have avenged the 2011 BCS loss by winning the championship in 2012 and beating Alabama, again, en route to it.

High - either watching the 2019 championship in the Dome or watching the 1996 Warren Morris walkoff at my dad’s house.
Low - Driving home during the second half of the LSU-Bama national championship game. I was in Nola watching the game in the walk-ons tent and when Jordan Jefferson came onto the field to start the second half, I got in my car and drove back to Baton Rouge.

High - January 2004 Sugar Bowl
Low - January 2012 Sugar Bowl.
For baseball
High was Warren Morris 1996, followed by the first National Championship, followed by last year's National Championship.
Low was the Ben McDonald grand slam ball.
Basketball
1981 Reginal finals in the Superdome to get to the Final Four was the high, followed by the low in Philly the next week. I was an LSU student at the time and attended both games.

THIS is the answer. Warren Morris is second. The all time High and Low should be for national championships. 1/9/12 was an unmitigated disaster at every level, but some of the disappointment was that because of unusual circumstances we had to re-play Alabama instead of very beatable Oklahoma State.

Triple overtime loss (2nd of the season) to Arky at home that essentially knocked us out of the NC picture. Then having the dominos fall to get into the SEC championship and watching Pitt pull it out against WV that ultimately have us the title in 2007. Will never forget that season of chaos.

Great post, and what you just described is exactly why the 2012 Bama game was my all time low and the 2019 Bama game was my all time high.
HM all time low would be the three week stretch of getting destroyed by Mississippi State, barely squeaking by Syracuse and then losing to Troy. At least that 2017 team turned it around and played great down the stretch until the bowl game.

Low:
Losing 14-0 to Tulane in 1973. For the old timers this was our worst nightmare after a 24 year winning streak.
High:
2019 Championship season.
