If everything is equal, I’m taking the ‘23 team

I think 1991 is highly underrated for LSU champions.

Then Auggie sweept LSU. SMH.

Remember that team was in the cat bird seat and after beating Mark Prior and USC 12-0 in the opener, winning a close one vs Texas then losing twice to USC. Tigers held a lead going in to the seventh then surendered the lead late and couldn't comeback for the win. Lost the next day and what looked like the inevitable three-peat was over. That was the other gut punch loss (Stanford and Paul Carey GS off of Big Ben the other) when it looked like the tigers were gonna win for sure.

Yep, 1998, they were set up to win 3 in a row...then the winds in Omaha died and the homeruns didn't go and we lost 2 in a row. Then the final game was windy again and the score was insane (21-14). If I remember correctly, by the end of LSU's run there, every starter had a homerun in the series (one might have actually been a ground rule double but they ruled it a homer).

Killed me to watch the championship game when I knew we should have been there.

98 still stings. More than 2017, more than 15

‘97 is -5 bats and roids are allowed.

I really like this hypothetical. This would be great to go a step further with seeding and stats. I was a little too young to have a good grasp on the early 90s teams but would love to see some comparisons.

23 ran through an absolute gauntlet in Omaha. Going to look back at that title with more and more appreciation as time goes on.

23, 09, 91 all in the mix.

Probably 23 though.

23 was the greatest of them all in my opinion. Too much star power on offense and defense. 2025 was really fun to watch as they grew throughout the year. They just never really regressed and it always felt like they were learning from mistakes.

My sentimental favorite remains 1996. The team that just refused to lose when it mattered.

23 wins.

Best pitching. And if you let them use the same bats I think they crush just as much as the next guy.

I'm taking the '23 team. Their loser's brackets run was incredible against some really stiff competition.

I got the 97 team winning the whole Fin thing. The juggernauts on that team were insane.
the 97 team was fun as hell to watch but imo is the worst LSU champion of the 8

23 is light years better and similar with 91.

Depends on how you setup the bracket IMO. If its like tdsngumbo set it up, i think 2025 gives the 23 team arun for their money, but ultimately the 23 team comes out of their side after falling in the losers bracket, theyd burn skenes twice to advance. Then id have them facing the 91 team in a 3 game series without skenes. Id take the 91 team

Figure out what teams would’ve won a 3 game series from the 90’s/‘00, then compare them to ‘09, ‘23, and ‘25. 1991 was the most hungry team. They were NOT going to lose. As beloved as ‘96 and 2000 were, I believe they lose a 3 game series.

They hit a wall towards the backend of the regular season and in Hoover. It scared the shite out of me when Skenes' fastball was *only* topping out at 97 against Arkansas in the SEC Tourney.
