Money and the power if SEC conference in all sports

How exactly would LSU lose bigly? They'd start a bidding war where they would name their own terms
A bidding war for what? Notre Dame football can get away with negotiating rights with NBC.
Notre Dame is a national brand particularly among Catholics in the US.
LSU doesn’t have that type of appeal. It’s like the 5th biggest brand in the SEC at best (Bama, Texas, Florida, OU) all bigger

Money and Exposure. We make alot of money in the SEC tand their TV deal helps us get a lot pf exposure.

What? It's LSU and Texas at the top.

Notre Dame also has long-standing agreements for annual games with other major brands like USC.
There is no guarantee LSU could guarantee any big games for that TV schedule, especially if other conferences react to us after this saga.

Key focus on Texas
Texas is clearly a bigger national draw than LSU and they crawled on glass to get into the SEC. If it was so easy to go independent, they'd be the one. Oh, and also, it must be noted: Longhorn Network. Arguing LSU could go independent is basically arguing we could have an LSU network, and make it work when a bigger school that's a bigger name failed spectactularly at it.

Just because the SEC commissioner is being emotional about this doesn't mean LSU has to be. Unless they have a deal on the table with another conference or can arrange a broadcasting deal as an independent there's no financial benefit to leaving the SEC.

Exactly. Plus Texas tried to start Longhorn Network and it’s a money pit.
I think if LSU were kicked out of the SEC then other conferences would certsinly want them. Big 10 obvious choice bc Big 10 has no southern imprint
But there’s no way LSU could even come close independently to making the same amount of money as they make in the SEC

the perfect time to either negotiate an independent TV deal
This. I hope our AD has vision. LSU is the hottest thing in CFB and will be for the forseeable future with Kiffin. Let's leave the SEC and strike while the iron is hot.
Conferences are going to go by the wayside in the next decade anyway. Let's maximize earning potential for the next 10 years and then, if it makes sense,we can look at joining a super conference when they emerge from the ashes.

It's highly doubtful the Big10 would consider LSU for a variety of factors, namely academics.

If anything, the SEC and Big10 are forming super conferences. Anyone not in those 2 conferences is risking becoming irrelevant.

LSU signs a deal with a streaming service like Amazon or Netflix? Would be massive.
CBS just lost the SEC contract…seems they would be itching for a football contract with an independent like LSU…

Other than money, there is no reason to stay. However, the Big 10 is probably the only league that will want us.
As for going independent, with the money from the lawsuits, we will be able - financially - to make it work, but how many other teams will want to play us, then we will have trouble recruiting guys that want to play against top competition week in, week out.

The woke big ten isn’t taking s conservative southern team.
We are conservative in our scandals and don't have a Pedo operation like Penn St. had or an elaborate sign scouting/sign stealing scandal like Michigan had, but I'm sure we could learn to be bolder.

I agree but they took Rutgers just to get into the northeast. And money seems to rule the world at this point.
I think if Big 10 was adamant about academis they’d have taken Stanford during their last expansions.

No program that has a big tv contract and draws millions of eyeballs will ever be irrelevant. Idiotic leadership would have rotated out by then, and they would beg LSU to join their super conference.

This would affect every LSU SEC game. men & women's baseball, basketball, track, golf, swimming, etc. And if.....IF...this would happen, would it open the door to the CFP committee shutting us out as well?

I'm almost to the point where I don't want to stay
