Arkansas tier 3, Mizzou tier 2. That’ll go over well on the SECr.

Their division in the Big 10 is weak enough that they’ve had a number of 10+ seasons that I recall

They basically show up for the season and get a new years day bowl. Rinse and repeat.

Considering it's a uniform metric it can't be biased so they should perform better

We have the 2nd most national titles the last 21 years and arguably the best team of all time in 2019. The 2011 team is probably the best team to not win it all. They beat 3 out of the 4 BCS bowl winners during the regular season. I’d say we are definitely tier 1 no question.

going out on a limb but based on the metric used of top 25 finishes I’m gonna guess all teams in tier 4 have zero top 25 finishes in the last 10 years

ETA probably is the case i bet. When I saw duke I thought I had to be wrong but checked out their wiki. They have 0 top 25 finishes in the past decade

ULL being ranked above most of those teams is stupid as shite.

Iowa, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, Penn State, Utah, Oregon, Oklahoma, have won NOTHING in 20+ years. Only Notre Dame on that list has even played for a championship.

It somewhat makes sense for Florida, Auburn, Texas to be tier 2 after the way they have fallen off since their last championships, but I can't put all those others up there with them. Florida St and Texas both have more recent championships and more recent better teams than anybody on that list.

The rest of tiers 2-3-4 look about right. But there's some clear homerism at the top.

Oregon and BYU definitely are not Tier 1. What have they ever won?

Tier One - Ranked 6+ times
Tier Two - Ranked 2-5 times
Tier Three - Ranked 1 time
Tier Four- Never ranked

From 2014-2023. That’s how the tiers were determining. I think they could have moved the teams only ranked twice into that third tier without throwing anything too far off.
