It should be Ole Miss...

LSU Ole Miss
Bama Auburn
Georgia Florida
Texas Oklahoma
Arky Texas A&M
Tennessee Vandy
S Carolina Kentucky
Miss State Missouri

or something close to this....

Don’t love it, but I understand why.

Texas has OU
Ole Miss has Mississippi State
Alabama has Auburn
Florida has Georgia

LSU and Tennessee have very little history, and they are not sticking LSU with Vandy, Kentucky Missouri, etc

Arkansas would be the other reasonable option as LSU has played more games against them. Still from 1960-1995 A&M was a regular opponent for LSU. It’s not like A&M was a completely new opponent for LSU starting in 2012. In fact, the 17 year gap between regular season meetings from 1995-2012 was the longest in each school’s histories since 1942

You’re true Rival is 46 miles to
the West. LSU’s rivals are all manufactured or secondary rivals.

Ole Miss - Miss St
Arkansas - Texas
Bama - Auburn
UGA - Florida
Texas - Oklahoma

Well this just sucks on all levels! A&M is being shoved down our throats. I would much rather UF/Bama/Arkansas/OM any one of these would be a better fit

This is all a moot point because they will go to 9 games and three permanent opponents as soon as Texas and Oklahoma officially join and a new TV contract is worked out. That said, this isn’t about A&M being forced on LSU. It’s about everyone else having primary rivals bigger than LSU. They could get Arkansas, but then that leaves A&M and Missouri. Arkansas-Missouri makes geographic sense and LSU-A&M is as much a historical rivalry as LSU-Arkansas. It’s really the logical solution.

Best way to do it while keeping in mind geography, history/rivalries, and comparable talent levels-

LSU/UF
Bama/Aub
UGA/Tenn
Ole Miss/MooSt
Texas/OU
Mizzou/Vandy
USC/UK
A&M/Ark

Florida and Ole Miss are both rivalries before A&M ever entered the SEC. Screw that.

This was known, friends within the football office at LSU knew something was set to happen at aTm. They tried the boot with Arkansas, that really never hit.
So the 2018 overtime game hit!

This is what we get for not having a true rival. We hate everyone equally, but they all hate someone else more than us. Tulane needed to stay in the SEC for us to have that truly historic rival.

I really don’t care. Keep winning and it won’t matter. If Bama isn’t on the regular season schedule, but both teams take care of business, there’s a good chance we see them anyway. Just win.

It's inevitable if we have a 1 perm situation

Alabama will get Auburn
Ole Miss will get MSU
Texas will get OU
UGA will get UF
TN will get Vandy (probably?)

That leaves Arkansas, LSU, Mizzou, USCe, UK and A&M to pair with each other

The only logical pairing for us is LSU/Ark or LSU/A&M. The A&M series has been pushed very very hard recently and Ark can easily pair with Mizzou who has been their permanent east opponent where as A&M nor us pair with any of the other schools really, so that leaves us together in the end IMO with USCe getting UK.

Garbage. Zero history.

I know right, the history between the two schools only dates back to 1899.

le Miss already has MSST, TX has OK, Bama has either TN or Auburn. Florida has Georgia. So it was either A&M or Arky.

Why wouldn't it be Bama & Auburn; then Vandy & Tenn for the natural instate rivalries?

That would leave LSU, Texas A&M, Ark, Mizz, Ky & SC without set matchups. Even those that would rather LSU & Ark, I think the SEC would much rather try to force the proximity rivalries with LSU & TAM, and Ark & Mizz.
