re: DISCLAIMER* - AppleTV+ Discussion (spoilers)
Posted by jimboslice on 11/14/24 at 12:36 am
I don’t understand the people upset with the lack of ambiguity in the ending. This isn’t a pick your adventure kind of story - it’s meant to be fiction from one POV (the author of the novel who wrote an entire book based on pictures) and the person who actually lived it.
The “disclaimer” at the beginning of each episode had the twist/ending hiding in plain sight. I’d argue it was so obvious given that you watched 6 episodes that the trigger warning did not apply to that you were almost certain it was coming in the finale - and the real twist is actually the discovery of Nicholas in one of the photos having witnessed the whole ordeal which would explain a lot about his personality.
There is a certainly a ton to dislike (how does grandpa keep getting allowed access to ICU) and certain plot holes, but IMO AppleTV+ continues to bang out very-bingeable thriller miniseries if you are not watching weekly in real time.

re: Would you take 2019 back to win 2011?
Posted by jimboslice on 10/25/23 at 7:48 pm
I wouldn’t trade 2019 for anything. Literally the greatest year ever to be a fan of LSU football. The other two championships were awesome, but it did not feel quite like that one. The greatest team in the history of CFB.
re: Six Feet Under Questions - NO SPOILERS PLEASE

I personally think the "greatness" of the finale is way overstated on this board. If expecting some huge payoff in the final episode is what's going to power you through 5 seasons even though you're not really enjoying it, I do not recommend.
re: Suits - Netflix (no spoilers)
Posted by jimboslice on 8/10/23 at 12:27 pm
Not every show can be Emmy worthy. Suits is a fun show to watch 1-2 episodes before bed every night. Like 95% of shows, it gets stale toward the end and stumbles to finish line. The ability to read people's minds or predict their strategy before they even say anything, read entire documents in 5 seconds or less, and blackmail their way out of every corner probably makes lawyers and paralegals alike cringe. I found it enjoyable for the most part, toward the end they lose certain cast members and try to fill that void with awful casting choices and you get to a point where you are just watching to see it through to the end.
re: Recently started rewatching episodes of Modern Family from the beginning

Like 99% of of "good shows", it's really good at the beginning and tapers off toward the end and probably goes on a few seasons longer than it should have.
The child actors (Luke, Manny, Lilly) killed the show as they got older. Horrid acting and just not likeable. I find this is a common theme for shows with child actors who have to go through puberty while the show is running - you end up being stuck with them but they lose their charm and suck at acting.

Gold tonight
Paul Skenes Purple tomorrow

Do you start Money if the wind is blowing in again tomorrow?
Posted by jimboslice on 6/20/23 at 9:44 pm
His Achilles heel is the long ball. His strength is throwing strikes. Big park, wind blowing in seems like it would set up best for him.
re: Who gonna throw dat ball tonight?
Posted by jimboslice on 6/20/23 at 1:37 pm
Cooper first.
Ack next.
Depending where we at in the game, Guidry or Herring to follow.

re: Let’s say Skenes pitches Thursday and we Win
Posted by jimboslice on 6/20/23 at 1:31 pm
To the "it will be up to Paul" crowd... even more so LOL if you think he's going to tell coach Nah i don't want the ball. You haven't been paying attention to the type of competitor he is. Jay Johnson would have to lock him in the hotel room for him not to demand the ball Thursday.
Wake will throw Lowder on the same amount of rest. Promise. It's win or go home, get a grip people

They are not going to risk injury to win on short rest with the amount of money he is about to make in MLB.
The days of seeing guys like Ben McDonald are over...sure you might see some rubber arms pithing tons of pitches are on short rest but doubtful you will see that from and LSU pitchers anymore
4 days may be shorter rest than he's used to but it's enough to send the best pitcher in baseball out in a marbles game without being labled irresponsible. And we will.

Lol to anybody who thinks Paul Skenes would not get the ball on Thursday on 4 days rest to go to the Natty.

I would love nothing more than to beat Tennessee tonight and then take 2 straight from Wake. Roll into the finals series, win game 1 with Skenes...then let's see if someone can beat em twice in a row. It'll take some serious shite to go LSUs way.. but f it. I'll believe!
I feel almost certain Skenes would throw Thursday. And Wake would throw Lowder. America deserves as much.
Will Paul Skenes get the Brandon Larson treatment?
Posted by jimboslice on 6/7/23 at 9:40 pm
Larson only played one season at LSU but statistically was one of the greatest offensive baseball seasons ever in college baseball history. He was MOP of the CWS and play a few years in the bigs. Skenes has the greatest single season pitching performance ever at LSU, most dominant college baseball pitcher we’ve ever hand even as good as Ben Mac and Nola were.
But when people mention the greats at LSU they will rattle off at least 5-6 names before they mention Larson because he only played one year here.

LSU got a great draw to Omaha. Kentucky is not that talented by SEC standards, If we play like they did this weekend it will be plenty good enough. Going to be a chippy series like it was in the regular season. We going to demoralize that sorry excuse of a pitching staff.

Best way to do it while keeping in mind geography, history/rivalries, and comparable talent levels-
LSU/UF
Bama/Aub
UGA/Tenn
Ole Miss/MooSt
Texas/OU
Mizzou/Vandy
USC/UK
A&M/Ark

re: What would your starting Pitcher lineup be for the Regional?
Posted by jimboslice on 5/31/23 at 10:19 pm
My gut says Hurd on a short leash. But the pitchforks will come out if he struggles and we go down early. Early run support to take off the pressure of whoever has the ball will go a long way. Easier to throw strikes and pitch to contact with a lead against a lineup that can’t hurt you in bunches.
re: Tiger football historians: how did Shyrone Carey’s career end?
Posted by jimboslice on 5/29/23 at 8:59 pm
Never separated himself from a crowded backfield but had his moments. He’s more known for being a badddd man in NOLA prep football at Shaw
