Garbage. Zero history.
Not saying I love the series but to say it’s got zero history is just false. 61 total meetings. LSU leads the series 35-23-3. Which is more than most of our other conference foes.
The two played almost every year in the 80s and 90s.
The two would rattle off win streaks but as of late it’s been back and forward.
Sumlin couldn’t beat LSU. Jimbo comes along and the series becomes much more interesting. LSU has not won at Kyle Field since Jimbo took over. A&M has not won at TS since Jimbo took over.
7OT 74-72 fiasco.
Burrow thrashes them 50-7 in his final game in TS. The infamous “Burreaux” game.
Aggies win a boring grind it out game in the Covid year.
LSU knocks them off dramatic fashion in a walkoff TD in Orgeron’s last game in tiger stadium.
Top 5 west division champs LSU roll into town against a 3-7 Aggie team and a&m dominates the tigers. The struggles in CS continue for LSU.
You don’t realize it until you break it down but LSU/A&M is definitely heating up with Houston being ground zero. These two fan bases overlap tremendously in Texas and especially Houston. Also within the O&G sector. Hate it or love it, LSU/A&M are rivals.
It’s a natural fit more so than Arkansas and that hideous golden boot. A&M and Arkansas is another forced rivalry. A god awful neutral site one at that. Those two fan bases do not mingle nearly as much as LSU/A&M fans. Hell, LSU fans mingle w Aggie fans more than any other sec fan base not named Bama, State or Ole Miss. maybe even Florida.

This is dumb as frick it is traditionally one of the most watched games every year!?

Yall are idiots. Do you really think they would cancel the Iron Bowl for the relatively recent rivalry of LSU vs Bama?
Now if you want to complain that we should be moving to a 9 game SEC schedule with 3 permanent opponents then thats different but ti sit here and think that LSU vs Bama should hold precendent over the Iron Bowl is just dumb.

Yall are also dumb for thinking that the hate LSU and A&M have for each other isn't part of the reason we are matched up. Forced or not, there is bad blood between the programs which leads to fans and players caring about this game regardless of team records.

Scott Rabalais reporting A&M as our permanent opponent from 2024.
Didn't they vote for 8 game schedule for 1 year only? Aren't they going to come back again and try to go to 9?
IF so, what does it matter? Its not permanent if they change it for 25.
You play everyone in 2 years either way.

This should be the priority regardless if it’s 8 or 9 games.
If I have to sacrifice a the Bama game for a year to get Georgia or Tennessee on the schedule then so be it.
We don’t see those guys nearly enough. The fan bases hate each other just as much as some west teams but don’t have the game history.

Absolute horseshite. Don’t wanna be associated with those weird fricks at all. They aren’t even close to the program LSU is either. frick this

I hate any association with A&M, let alone having to play them every year. Bull shite.

It makes 0 sense. Rather the Gumps or Florida.

And it's way more balanced.

Living in Houston now this is awesome. There are tons of LSU and A&M people in the Houston area.

Gumps have Auburn.
Florida has Georgia.
Ole Miss has State.
Oklahoma has Texas.
The only team that could work for us outside of A&M is Arkansas, but they match better with Missouri.
We may not like it (I certainly don't), but it makes perfect sense.

Amen.
Sure Bama hates LSU. But not as much as LSU hates bama.
Sure Ole Miss hates LSU but not as much as LSU hates Ole Miss.
Sure Florida hates LSU but not as much as Florida hates Georgia.
A&M hates LSU just as much as LSU hates A&M. It’s the only series LSU has that is equal hate. A&M definitely hates Texas but they haven’t played in 12 years. It’s old history. It’ll Get back to where it was but as it stands right now, A&M hates LSU more than any other SEC program.

Who did Nicky get? Auburn, as expected, or Vanderbilt, per his request. As mentioned before LSU gets Texas A&M, by default. Most others SEC teams have natural rivals. Alabama-Auburn, Florida-Georgia, Tennessee-Vanderbilt, Ole Miss-Miss. State, Texas-Oklahoma. Arkansas- Missouri, South Carolina-Kentucky would likely be paired off geographically.

I liked playing A&M in the 80's & 90's and like playing them in the regular season but in no way like playing them more than Bama, Auburn, Florida, Ole Miss or Miss State.
