What exactly is LSU's "stature" as a program? I'm not being combative or sarcastic. What do you think the stature of LSU's program is?

For those of us who live in Louisiana, LSU has great stature as a program. But, on the national scene, perhaps not so much.

On the national scene, Georgia seems to have higher stature yet LSU has a better championship record.

LSU received its props for the 2019 season, but the props were nothing to compared to the props that would have been lavished on Alabama, Notre Dame, Clemson, or Ohio State had they had the same season.

Sadly, I think our corrupt state government plays a role in LSU's standing among teams. It is hard to have a football program of great stature when the team is based in a third world state.

This should be true almost every season (unless LSU is playing Vanderbilt or some team is having a really bad year). The SEC is full of teams that are capable of winning on any given weekend.

Right. But the competition in the SECw looks stronger than most years, and LSU looks weaker than most years as of right now.

Let’s put it this way - LSU opened as a 4-point favorite against MSU. Statistically, a 4-point favorite wins about 62% of the time in college football. If we were a 4-point favorite in every SEC game this year, the most likely outcome would be a 5-3 conference record, 8-4 overall record.

But we won’t be a 4-point favorite in every game. In fact, as of right now Mississippi State looks like the worst or 2nd worst SEC team on our schedule, with Kentucky. As of today the line would be worse than -4 against Alabama, Texas A&M, Auburn, Ole Miss, and Arkansas.

I agree that LSU will get better as the season goes on. But so will our opponents. 10-2 would be a hell of a turnaround. 9-3 would mean significant improvement relative to our peers. Chalk at this point is somewhere between 7-5 and 8-4.

That said, 8-4 with a bowl win is probably enough for a top 25 finish. But I doubt many people will be happy about it. 9-3 with a bowl win might be enough for a top 10 finish, similar to 2018.

I said that I would not judge this team until SEC play. That starts this week. Of course I wanted to judge the heck out of them after the mcnese game but held tight. Im still on schedule. This will be a big week for the tigers!

What you're speaking to is media coverage/bias. I couldn't give a rat's arse about our market share. The results speak for themselves. LSU is a Top 5 program in the country outside of this year and last. Ask yourself if Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Clemson, or Georgia would tolerate an 8-4 season following a 5-5 season. Georgia fired Richt and we fired Miles for less.

Record since 2005:

1. Alabama 189-32 (.855)
2. Ohio State 180-30 (.857)
3. Oklahoma 171-44 (.795)
4. Clemson 169-50 (.772)
5. LSU 161-49 (.767)
6. Georgia 159-55 (.743)

Record since 2010:

1. Alabama 140-15 (.903)
2. Clemson 128-26 (.831)
3. Ohio State 126-20 (.863)
4. Oklahoma 121-27 (.818)
5. Georgia 111-38 (.745)
6. LSU 110-34 (.764)

Record since 2015:
1. Alabama 82-6 (.932)
2. Clemson 81-8 (.910)'
3. Ohio State 70-9 (.886)
4. Oklahoma 70-12 (.854)
5. Georgia 65-17 (.793)
6. Notre Dame 60-19 (.759)
7. LSU 58-20 (.744)

… that got up on Saturday morning, flew to Baton Rouge, and played the game a few hours after landing with no time to rest, etc.

Anybody making anything out of this game as far as going 6-1 in the SEC is a huge shitposter.

But hey, we knew that when we saw “Chinhoyang.”

If we make the same kind of jump from McNeese to CMU every week sure.

But let’s be real, we still have issues that aren’t going to get better against good SEC teams.

Florida and Alabama seem legit.

Auburn isn’t a bad team and neither is Ole Miss.

We looked better than we have all year. Max has improved by leaps and bounds and we have several elite young receivers. The DLine is a wrecking crew and the back 7 are playing a lot better.

Still not near good enough to be SEC competitive. Our running game has to improve and we have to scheme better around our weak OLine. Maybe we'll get there.

While I understand your optimism after some of our young talent showed off, I don't see this prediction as reasonable or rational.

This statement

For the rest of the season, Alabama will be, as always, a big challenge.
is ignorant. I don't mean that as an insult, I mean it's an ignorant (as in uninformed or unaware) statement.
You seem to concede a loss to Alabama, and hold hope for every other game.

Yesterday, Alabama played Florida. Florida got hit with Bama's 'Shock and Awe' early, ... and then proceeded to outplay Alabama the rest of the way. Even blowing some kicks and making a couple of questionable moves, they still almost won. If there's a rematch, my money goes on the Gators.

If we can't beat Alabama, we similarly can't beat Florida. That's 3 losses right there. If we can beat Florida, there's no reason to concede the Bama game out of hand.

Thankfully, the "fire Coach O" chatter seems to have subsided.

He should still be fired. We weren't prepared at all for the first two games of the season which is criminal. We aspire to be better than 10-2, and getting there this year is a stretch and a half because of how we're essentially starting at week 1 in week 3 with a loss to our name already

Nope, especially not after last season.

We couldn't have beat either of those teams yesterday but we weren't playing them yesterday. We may be better or worse later on and so will they. That was Florida's best shot and they may not equal it again. Saban will fix Bama's defensive problems or die trying.

Florida fricked up an extra point, and pissed away some points early by going for it inside the 10 instead of taking the FG.

If they knew they would be able to move the way they did, they take those points, and the game doesn't go to OT (unless Bama drives for a late FG to tie it).

I don't know if he can fix the issue.

Mullen ran a very strong version of this offense... with Miss State. Now, he has Florida's talent running it. That's a big step up.

This reminds me of the positivity on here after LSU beat South Carolina last year. Then they proceed to get their shite pushed in by Auburn
