Oh, I don't know. I think Mulkey is doing great. (Hint: be specific on your subject)

That's totally fair.
My main point is that I don't think Fountain is a starter on a good SEC team. Reed and Phillips might be? We don't know yet, but maybe it's time to increase their minutes and find out during SEC play. I don't think Fountain needs to be second on the team in minutes if he's having that kind of game and we're losing by 40.

What about Efton Reid? He seems to be playing a few minutes a game for Gonzaga. He probably could be contributing for LSU, especially rebounding.

I agree with Fountain is a hard nosed player in the paint for LSU where and when it has been lacking all season but at the same time the beginning of the game against a team you know can run you out of the gym is NOT the time to be attempting 3s that you don't normally take. And yes everyone was bad in the paint on Saturday. Also question why our coaching staff isn't working on getting the height to crash boards on the 3s. Chances of a rebound are high.

Sad thing is most of those points came off of offensive rebounds

You’re spot on and what I’ve noticed about this team also. Outside of KJ and Miller, you don’t have any legitimate, consistent outside shooters. Hell, they struggle with medium range shots and even layups a good bit of the time. At minimum, if they can’t hit outside shots, at least be good slashers and finish at the rim and their best guy at that is Hannibal.

Fountain was end of the bench at State and starting for us. Think about that.
We have 3 bench players from NC State, Mississippi St and Murray State all playing significant minutes for us
It's a talent issue first and foremost

Hill is shooting 30% on FGs, 27% from 3 and 51% from the free throw line. That is bad for anyone, but extremely bad for a point guard. He shouldn't be playing much with those numbers.
Fountain is at least is shooting 58% on FGs and 78% from the free throw line. Both very good. He had a bad game, but Hill has struggled all season.

Major issue = talent not playing to potential
FIFY there are several players on this team that have succeeded at a high level. 5 players have started and won NCAA tournament games. For some reason MM has not been able to get that kind of production out of these players.

We are playing under a self imposed death penalty. This is going to take some time

How did we self impose a death penalty? Our AD decided to fire a successful coach and in the transfer portal era, that is going to mean roster turnover. That’s not the death penalty. Hell MM brought in 3 guys from a 2nd round tournament team last year.
What does that have to do with getting production out of the guys that are on campus? There is enough talent to be competitive in the middle of the pack in the SEC.

Not to take threes and to hopefully get more than two rebounds in 21 minutes when there are so many balls flying around and hitting the floor?
It’s par for the course. Granted, he’s been a bright spot for this team this year but the dude had only started 13 games in 2 years at Moo St. Same with everyone else that came in. Mostly bench players. If Adam Miller showed any hint of his preseason 2nd round draft grade, this team would be fine but he’s not. If we had a PG worth a damn we would also be ok…but we don’t. We need to give Justice Williams the ball and get off of Hill. Regardless of whatever we told him to get here.

Fountain was behind two very good upperclassmen his first 2 years at State and has produced anytime he’s been given the opportunity.

Fountain has not business attempting 3's.

I agree. The team beat Arkansas and was in position to beat UK at Rupp. I don't know what happened to them in the following two games, but we all knew they would get steamrolled on the road vs. Bama. They can start again against Auburn.

The 3 Murray players, Miller, and Wilkinson.
