Curry. He’s money anywhere across the half court line.

Well, if you go purely off of career 3 point % in the NBA, it would be Curry. Curry shoots 43.6% and CJ shot 35.4% but who knows who would win in a true 3 pt. contest.

I’d take CJ in his prime over anyone at shooting and creating a shot.

He really was up there with Pistol Pete as far as ball-handling, passing and shot creation.

He and Steph would have to shoot a thousand 3's in order for one to gain any significant advantage over the other.

As for one on one, I have to go with Jackson. He could literally do it all at only 6'1".

They are about the same in an unguarded contest. Steph separates from CJ when guarded due to his height advantage.

Steve fricking Kerr?

You might not know but they played in the NBA at the same time. Oh. Wait, I have a video. It’s mostly Kerr chasing CJ around the court aimlessly.

Michael Jordan vs. Mahmoud Abdul Rauf

Notice the title of the video is Abdul-Rauf vs Jordan (not vs Kerr, who was merely a role player)

CJ had a lot of problems: self-inflicted (religion and politics) and non-self inflicted (Tourette’s Syndrome) which kept him from being a long time star.

Talent was not one of them.

He also played in a different era of the NBA. His skills are much more suited to the modern day NBA.

Phil Jackson
@PhilJackson11
Never seen anything like SCurry? Remind you of Chris Jackson/ Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf, who had a short but brilliant run in NBA?

Kerr on Curry, Abdul-Rauf

quote:

Statistics say Warriors coach Steve Kerr was a better 3-point shooter in his time than Golden State’s “Splash Brothers” Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.

“Those statistics lie,” said Kerr, whose West-leading Warriors fell to Atlanta, 124-116 on Friday and will travel to the Garden on Saturday to face the Knicks. “Statistics would say I’m better than them. Those guys are way better than I was.”

quote:

But Kerr admits he was a standstill shooter, not in the same class as Curry and Thompson.

The only guys I can think of that are close would be Mark Price, Steve Nash and Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf,” Kerr said.

3-pt shooting contest,

Somebody posted a video a couple yrs back of current MA-R shooting 3's in a gym. He had a girl underneath the basket feeding the ball to him as he moved around the 3-pt line. The video was un-cut and he hit around 130 of 135... I searched for it on google bud did not find it. I believe it was a video posted on twitter.

saw a video with CJ as an old man already and he hit something like 104 of 107.

give me him in his prime over almost anyone else that ever played

I'm with ya, Nootch! I was lucky enough to be a student in those days and watch both CJ and Shaq play at LSU. Chris was "Cash Money" from the free throw line as well. I wish he had stayed one more year.

Yes. Steve fricking Kerr.

I’m gonna take the guy who is the most accurate 3 point shooter in NBA history in a 3 point shooting contest.

You do know that in a 3 point shooting contest, there is no defense? It’s just shooting from different spots. So not sure what that video of Kerr chasing Jackson around has to do with a 3 point shooting contest

quote:

But Kerr admits he was a standstill shooter

Which is what a 3 point contest is.

One on one, it’s isn’t even close. Jackson in a blowout.

But in a 3 point contest, it’s Kerr. And I say that as a HUGE Chris Jackson fan

Hell, I remember spending like $15 on some pay per view event just a few days before the NBA Draft the year he was drafted. It was a one-on-one tourney for players expected to go in the first round. Chris was in it and I was sure he was going to run through those other players like it was nothing. He lost in the first round against Gary Payton. I was crushed.

Chris was a better overall player than almost that entire list I posted. But he wasn’t a better 3 point shooter than them. Not sure how that’s controversial. Statistics and 3 point contest trophies back it up

3 pt contest in Jackson’s prime would probably be a wash but I’ll go with Curry there for the sake of fairness, be sure Jackson would dispose of him 1 on 1. Curry can’t do all that Jackson could do outside of shooting 3’s.

How many league mvps did Chris Jackson win? What’s his career 3 point percentage? I’ll hang up and listen

they didn’t.
CJ tells the story of Michael coming to his high school for something like a camp.

that’s an already NBA player MU and Chris beat him to the hoop for east layups a couple times.

I've seen that video and it's impressive. I think a lot of the posters on here didn't really get to see CJ in his prime. For someone just 6'1, that kid was incredible and unstoppable. Add to it that he also had Tourettes and it makes his accomplishments even more remarkable!

I saw him at a game that was legendary “CSB. “ LSU was on defense as the clock was ticking down to halftime. The ball got knocked in the back court and was headed out of bounds in the corner. CJ was the only player to chase the ball down and in one motion scooped it up threw up a three pt shoot in the corner as he continued out of bounds and ran up the tunnel. I dont know if he even saw the shot go through the net.
