I would still call O'Sullivan at Florida. I know he's in a fertile recruiting area and very unlikely to leave. You call every top coach in the country. You never know who might be unsettled where they are.
The worst that could happen is they say no.

Because you're retarded. I made three posts in that thread, which took an aggregate of four minutes, tops. But yeah, that's the same as the sports savant, Lester, looking up the current roster of NCAA college baseball coaches and determining whether they coached in MLB and assessing the likelihood that LSU could/should hire them.

I love this place. I don't know what it says for LSU (I don't think it's good), but I love this place.

Why would you hire Blake Dean when you can hire a top 5 coach? If we fired Coach O would you replace him with Kevin Mawae because he went to LSU and was a great player?

People have hobbies, there's nothing wrong with that. Lester and I disagree on almost everything, but this thread is good work and appreciated.

There are a lot of good candidates there but I would like to see an outside-the-box hire. I can’t offer a name but someone with some MLB experience and knows the college game.

It's hard to pinpoint guys like this, if you remember they pulled Canizzaro randomly out of scouting to come and coach. He had been giving lessons locally on top of that.

And on the major league level, you've seen guys go from announcer to manager(Boone/Cora/David Ross for example) with some success. So just to play around, here are 5 random guys with similar paths to that. For the record, none of these would ever happen as a head coach at LSU. At least I don't think so.

-CHRIS BURKE, ESPN color analyst
Former MLBer/Tenn Vol -Interviewed for Tenn job in 2012

-JACK CRESSEND, CEO LA Knights Baseball
Former MLBer from Mandeville- Played at Tulane- Private instructor, travel ball mogul

Id honestly expect and be cool with everyone in LEs A list, schloss would have me a bit skeptical though. With the way woodward hires coaches, not getting godwin, vitello, tadlock, bakich, or mcdonnell would be a tad disappointing

Bobby Dickerson is a local guy, coaching with the Padres. He has Head Coaching experience in AAA Ball,.
I don't know if there is any mutual interest, but I think he's probably as good as some on that list.

If we can't get an A-List coach we really like, I'd look long and hard at Jeff Willis. He is a great guy and has done a super job at LSUE for years. He wins and develops players.

Jeff Willis is AD as well as HC

From his bio:

quote:

As an administrator, Willis serves as the Assistant Regional Director for NJCAA Region XXIII, the chairman of the NJCAA All-American Committee, on the Executive Committee for the NJCAA Coaches Association and a member of the NJCAA Division II Baseball and NJCAA Division I Men's Soccer committees.

I would think he’s comfortable where he is

Vitello left and his recruits carried TCU to Omaha for another three years.

Check the rosters. College baseball rosters turn over quickly. It's not like football used to be.
Vitello's TCU recruits, according to their media guide, were all gone by the time Schlossnagle went to three additional College World Series.

Schlossnagle has coached the USA national team as well, teams that included Bregman and David Price. When Price is in Texas with his MLB team, he goes to a TCU game to visit with Schlossnagle.

You seem to be suggesting that Schlossnagle can't recruit. Five trips to Omaha for a small private school surrounded by Texas, Texas A&M, Houston and Texas Tech tells a different story.
