I think this team actually has a lot in common with CMM's last team at Murray State.
Sears and Hill are comparable except Sears has an elite 3 Ball (just need for him to make smart decisions with the ball and limit turnovers)
Carter is a physical slasher like Hannibal
Ward is an elite shooter and has all the size and skills to block the 3 ball on the perimeter just need the effort.
The "4" on that Team was DJ Burns a great rebounder (who was top 5 in the nation in rebounding last year) I expect Corey Chest and Colins to play here and be the most physically dominant players on the court. Much like Washington from A&M (wish he was in P&G)
The obvious difference will be at the 5 I don't see a KJ Williams like player on this team yet, but with hiring Jalen Courtney-Williams I expect much better play out of Fountain and Reed.

o offense to Trey'Dez who I think is a good basketball player, but he won't see minutes over Reed/Chest/Fountain/Miller/Boyde in year 1.
One think that has been consistently disappointing for me has been the lack of toughness - who in the bunch above can help with that?

Should be the aim.
A once moribund program rises from the ashes of draconian sanctions.

Hate to tell you but it’s not going to be any better.

They do have alot in common with that team in that he’s still running the same antiquated offense and low tier defense he ran at Murray. Until this guy learns to play ball the way winning programs do it’s going to be an uphill battle,

Fountain and Reed aren't centers. We don't have a player on the roster who has been labeled a center. Even the 7 footer is listed as a forward. I don't think it really matters. We will play three guards and two big men most of the time. We have lots of guards and fewer big men. There will be a lot of subbing going on, especially if we foul a lot.

About 1 chance in 100 Chest turns out to be a player …….. if you think we’ve got Tyrus Thomas in the wings?? Nah bruh.
I say rotational piece at best

I’d love to hear what you mean by this. What specifically about the offense that coach runs is outdated?

I want to get excited about this program. Recruiting is better and there are some veterans. Hopefully, this team puts it together.

Need to add TreyDez
It never works out. Fans get tittilated but with academics and spring football its not going to happen. Yeah,he may come out fopr a week or so and then realize how far behind the rest of the team he is and we will see a quiet note in the paper that he has given it up.

I'd say one of his strengths is actual bench coaching. If he has the talent, LSU should be competitive.

Watch for the change in TEMPO. They are flying up and down the floor this year. Everyone on roster can run. Sears will be running the show. Can we make enough 3’s cus we gonna shoot a bunch….. Very excited.

We are likely a NIT team again, but may win a game or two in that tournament this year. Less likely IMO would be a NCAA tournament team or not good enough for NIT.

Fountain was as you described 2 seasons ago ….. last year he regressed and was a zero impact player ……he’s a hosting rebounder role player at best

Fountain is a decent role player, not a starter. It Ward & Reed are more consistent, and all the new players are as advertised, this could be a very nice team.

Just curious as to how you know this. And I agree, the Tyrus comparison is a bit much, but Chest is not talented enough to be a starter?

We make the tourney as a 6 seed and win at least 10 SeC Games.
Posted on 9/28/24 at 10:12 am to Stately
The additions to the staff are very noticeable on the offensive end. We will play 10+ guys and run like never before. Defending and rebounding are being worked on more everyday. It’s a great collection of players that need to become a great team. Coach knows it Tournament or bust. I think we will def be bubble team late. Some key games will determine our fate.
