so you are saying going 1-3 vs ARK and Ole Miss in 2014-2015 and losing games by a combined score of 31-86 had no bearing on Les Miles losing his job?
Well since we're adding in the prior year...let's!

Troy. (You started it)
vs MSU blown tf out, worst loss in series history.

“You started it”

It’s pretty amusing when people begin to use a fired coaches record as some kind of measuring stick as to what should be acceptable for LSU football today.

Almost 3 yrs after firing a coach and his OC have we really lowered our expectations to 9-3, 5-3 with a less productive O and D to now being ok when it was never ok before??

I always thought the motivation behind firing any coach was to be substantially better in 3 yrs and not debating how one 9-3, 5-3 is somehow better than another 9-3, 5-3.

A very powerful set of boosters wanted to fire the coach.

You would think anyone with any common sense would look at it that way. But we have a bunch of people on the rant that seem to be perfectly content with getting rid of Miles (just because ) to replace him with someone who "talks like us." Despite the fact that nothing has gotten any better since the change. In fact, a person could argue that things are actually a little worse since the firing of Miles and the hiring of o.

And to top it off, LSU has a AD that looks at it the exact same way as these posters.

these are bad marks on O's resume'. But if you trend up like he has this year, and don't fall back into that stuff, I am willing to look past losing those games in his first year taking over the program from a fired coach.

If he gets to year 9-10 of what was an established program, and you start losing those games every year like Miles did, then let's fire up the coaching search.

It doesn’t seem like O is doing the same things Les did?

And this thread is about keeping pressure on the position

We shouldn’t be jerking it over a 9-3 season ever.

Sammy, you are very very much out of touch.

Based on everything you said this offseason, you should be jerking it feverishly to 9-3.

It's all about upward trajectory. Expectations were met, and in the majority of cases, exceeded in year 2. Clean up the problems from this year going into next year, keep recruiting at a high level, and things will be fine.

Knowing what you expected in year 2 and where we actually are, you are fricking delusional.

Trending up?
How so?
Losing to Florida?
Lost to Bama again, shut out after scoring ten last year, so that’s a down trend.
Losing to AtM for the first time this century?
I guess not losing to an FCS school this year is sorta trending up.
0gre - 6 against Mullen, Saban, and Fisher.
Still never won ten.
5 loss Miami, 5 loss Auburn, 4 loss Miss State.
He talk like us, I guess.
Oh, and he beats a woman, court mandated anger management, then gets in bar fight. Also not trending up.
Stay classy Louisiana!

Makings a shitty offense great isn’t cleaning up a problem.

It will take A serious leap in quality.

We exceed expectations of O not LSU.

I will Agree with you 100% that O is coaching better than he has ever coached, but on his best day he probably isn’t elite.

This is LSU. Standards for what an LSU team should be are high.

Trending up? 9-3 with a dubious offense is 'trending up' for LSU? That sounds like the status quo, actually.

Recruiting is the only aspect of the LSU program that is 'trending up.'

Orgeron's hiring decisions on offense -- OC / OL / WR -- are questionable, at best.

I do not see Orgeron making the decisions / moves necessary to get LSU over the hump right now. Worse, I think his decisions are moving LSU further away from being the championship caliber team we all want it to be.

9-3 with an offense ranked outside of the top 50 in every major statistical category is meeting and exceeding expectations now?

Lester Earl, your narrative has jumped the shark.

You go from beating 3 bowl teams last year, to 6 bowl teams this year. Playing the toughest SOS in the nation, which has been reflected in the Bowl game LSU has been selected to play in. The best bowl game LSU has played in years.

recruiting class is going to be top 5, after being in the mid-teens last year

You developed a lot of young players & first year starters and were still able to compete with everyone. You are set to return a boat load of starters going into 2019, a trend that LSU has had trouble bucking in the past, losing guys to the NFL draft.

So yes, trending up. You done crying yet?

So, LSU is exceeding the lowered expectations that were set in Orgeron's first year?

You cannot be serious.

Acceptable doesn't not equal exceeding expectations. Well done proving your own point to be wrong.

the offense needs to improve. No questions about it. However a shite ton of things went against us on the offensive side of the ball this year. The OL injuries being the biggest. Which, when you throw in with all the new players, new QB coming in late, that compounds itself into a huge problem. I already said we need changes on that side the ball, starting with the WR coaches.
