Hell of a defense. For whatever reason, I can hear John Ferguson in my mind calling Bill Elko's name.

Tony Moss had a long LSU career. I remember him dominating in 1989.

Went to the PMAC to watch on closed circuit t.v. Had a giant screen t.v. and lined us all up in chairs in front of it on the floor of the PMAC. Was nuts in there.

I skipped going to the Bama game because of a test but managed to make it to the Miss State game. Brilliant.

Mike Anderson's printed a bunch of posters that showed the Tigers gang tackling an Alabama player. It seemed like almost every apartment had one hanging in it.

That game broke a 12, (yes TWELVE!!!) game losing streak to the Tide. Can you imagine if we lost 7 more times to the gumps before we win again????!!?!? How many coaches would we burn thru to finally get the win? Can you imagine the celebration when we did finally win?

I sort of remember watching that game on the big gondola screens in the Superdome.

No. I think they were just drunk a-hole college kids.

Here's the game - old VHS quality and with commercials, but...

I was there. My friend and I cheered HARD. Surrounded by a tolerant sea of red at the game. Walk to car was ok. We spent the night in Tuscaloosa. We got some food at McDonalds and literally had to run for our lives when we yelled geaux Tigers and waved on our way out. You could tell the college kids in there were looking for an excuse to kick our butts and we were young and stupid enough to give it to them. But we were smart enough to do it at the door!

Tidbits from that video;

1) Had forgotten just how badass that defense was. Holy cow!!

2) Dalton/James Gang

3) How far has production quality come on football broadcasts? Did they even supply phonetic spellings for the players names back then? Lee-fart Hobley, gotta be Ratphuc's Dad.

4) The Juan Betnzos "Sky Kick"

5) Last, but not least, to be 18 again and on that LSU road trip with my boys!!! Great memories!

Was it Ramsey DarDar playing the nose.

Hit a bama running back on a sweep to the left, crushed him.
