Inconsistency.. He had the same pattern at OM. Look like world beaters one week and then shite the bed the next. Remember last year when they were within an eyelash of losing to Washington State? They lost to UK on the road with a much superior rostter as well. I'm just speculating, but I feel like he locks in and focuses on the big games, but allows himself to get distracted with other things when we should be preparing for beating the teams we should beat.
I'll tell you one place he could start. Quit doing Dr. Pepper and Doordash commercials and focus on your team. But his vanity won't allow him to do it.

No coach did more commercials than Nick Saban.

I think maybe we need to give him a chance to build a full roster with some decent backups. I get it, its mostly a year to year thing now, but the margins of our losses are super thin and he hasnt even been here a full year to build up special teams with depth, and glasscock to build out the roster. We need olinr depth. He fixed 1-2 spots, but that unit needed a complete overhaul. Also, getting a qb to have a 2nd year in his system would be huge. May get that from leavitt.

This is what he’s done every year as a head coach. Just cause we paid him more doesn’t mean he’s any better.

That’s not how this works anymore. You aren’t going to have the depth in the NIL era. This roster is already millions and millions of dollars. No one has depth anymore. That’s why there’s so much parity across the board.

Never was a winner in my book. Spending all that money was ridiculous. Seems to me OC/DC coordinators are working out well being HC. Just ask UGA, IU, UK. Never believed they would be a playoff team this year. Make you AIR BNB reservations for Tampa or Orlando.

You arent gonna have 3 deep, but you can get 5-7 functional olineman, and maybe a good blocking tightend, and maybe 3-4 good defensive lineman.
Like i said, i get that alot of it is year to year, most of it, but having 3 months to build the whole thing after how bad the oline was last year is tough. Also, and i said it at the time of hire, i think lane couldve done better with that hire.
I also think we could do better with the DC hire

I don't care about commercials and endorsements. More power to him.
This is a better team than last years. Period.
However, to be consistent, I thought hiring Kiffin was a mistake because of what you touched on. I thought, and still do, he is a great offensive coach and a mediocre head coach (his past teams have always had games where they showed up unprepared) making illogical in game decisions. Always good for at least a couple of losses.

It's pretty rare for a coach to do this for more than a decade and suddenly have an epiphany and "get it."
It happens, but not very much.
I said this to y'all about BK and I said this to y'all about Lane.
If there are patterns you see for years and years, as the saying goes a tiger cannot change its stripes.

There were NUMEROUS red flags about Kiffin as a head coach. Lots of LSU fans chose to ignore them for whatever reason.

While I do think that Lane needs more than 1 year before you judge the job that he has done, just look at his history. He has generally put up decent regular season records, but he does not win big games.

Hitting G5 losers isn’t going to get it done. Lane is busy losing one score games, while G5 Summy is being smacked around by Mizzou and usc

You never know.
It worked out ok for Indiana last year.
It's definitely a higher risk, higher reward situation, though.

I am just worried who is going to walk down the hill if more losses come.. I don't wanna see 60 - 70yr old rappers , wrestlers and reality "stars" walking down

Totally agree with your post.
But what happened here?

Well he has never won anything, anywhere

Aside from two Conference USA championships in three years, I guess you’re right

My fear is the fearless Lane that was coaching at Ole Miss and everywhere else is holding back for the first time in his career

How quickly some of you so-called "Tiger Fans" can turn on a new Coach with a new program? It's shocking!
Sure, we're all disappointed in the results of last night's game, what true fan wouldn't be? But c'mon man....don't start whining about Kiffin was a bad hire and spewing out all those "I told you so's".
Give the man and his program a chance. The potential is much greater than it was with Brian Kelly, that's for sure.
So, guys...sit back, support your team and give it time!
